Just when it seems that there couldn't possibly any more old teardrops out there waiting for rescue, someone finds another!
I'll look forward to seeing what you do with this restore!

Love to see old stuff given a new lease on life. :applause: She will look infinitely better with some more appropriate fenders!

Is that angle iron member bent because it is rusted thin/away at that corner? Kind of hard to tell from the one picture. If so, you will definitely want to cut it back and splice in a fresh piece.

Very little rust, I believe this was used to haul something too heavy at some point. The angle is only 1/8" thick, I can bend it back close to straight. Adding square tubing to beef it up is something I an considering.

Also the fenders are original, that's going to make it tough for me to switch them out.

Thanks Dan! It has some interesting history related to Hank Williams Sr. During the time he lived here. He was a mainstay on the Louisiana Hayride and hung out here and wrote some songs.

Today I removed the tongue and replaced it with 3/16" walled 2" tubing. I extended the tongue by 14" to give me some storage options up front.

Just about done with the trailer. I added 1" tubing the along length and jacks. I still need to resolve bracing for the tongue storage. I hope to have the deck on soon.

Looks like your hard work is paying off.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend about the fenders. In the pics, at least to me, they look like they were designed and built to a different standard than the cabin, as if later. They almost look like galvy instead of aluminum.

Maybe if you build simple rounded fenders using similar materials to the original, and distress them just enough to make them look old and restored, you could have "the look" of original without ruining a classic by putting something contemporary on there.

I don't mean to offend. It just seems like a shame for such a nice curvy classic to have boxy fenders, IMO.

Whatever you decide, you are doing a good thing by dusting off the cobwebs and getting that old girl back camping again!

Absolutely no offense taken! I believe they are galvanized and don't really flow with the form of the trailer!

I'm fitting some mild steel fenders to mine that are made in so cal (a guy here imports them)
They are flat across the top with a flat inner and rolled outer edge.
Come in a bunch of sizes and come in galv, stainless steel and aluminium as well.
They would look awesome on that
