??? what technique did you use between uses of the Great stuff? How did you keep the stuff from becoming dry and hard in the tube and the orifice? I will need to use the stuff (a little each day) over about three days, Your door looks good!!!!

I think WW said to give it a clean out with acetone after each use and it keeps for about a month

GPW. looking really nice. Those foam bits really never go away, they just keep appearing in corners and other hiding places They'll probably outlast cockroaches. :? :frightened: :NC

Yep, what he said.^^

If you use an old squeeze bottle (contact lens solution) you can use a just a drop or two instead of a blurp from the can.
Plus, if you knock it over, it doesn't spill and melt everything you're working on

Hmmm...sounds like dog hair.....

Just curious GPW, is the door window one of the ones that's enroute or are you going to make a plastic one ?

Didn’t do anything special with the GS because we used so much of it ... between applications , I just let it sit and when ready to use , just pulled the blob off the end and started squirting again ...

Dog and cat hair ... yes, we have that too ... :o Windows for the sides and back door are supposed to be here on the ninth of July ... No homemade windows this time ... 8)

Here’s the door all sanded nice and flat ... now sawdust mixed in with the foam dust ... and cat and dog hair ... :frightened:

I found a screw that is about the same diameter as the tube. At first I just slid the screw in, but the foam has since filled in the threads so now it has a nice close tolerance fit. I now just pulled out the screw and used the GS and reinstalled it. Works fine and I have had it sitting around for over a week without any clogging issues.

I can vouch for WW's acetone technique. Works great. Just a few drops in the straw and it's as clean as a whistle, and a single drop in the top of the can nozzle; no mare foam.

I have noted that the GS sets up way softer than the GG, very soft and springy. Whereas the GG is much harder and more brittle.

GS sands much easier, but has no backbone. Seems to stick just fine.

Hey there,
Ever thought of using one of those half round windows that usually mount in house doors, above your door? I think one of the stained glass looking ones would look super sharp as it would mimic the radius of the Foamstream... I realize its not safety glass but it is on the back end of the trailer, not like a rock will likely hit it!

Mary , hope you don’t see any floods ... a good rain here always produces some type of flooding , and it rains Every day ... :o I started with T2 , glued all the, ribs foam sides and top pieces on with it , had to dry overnight every time ... Switched over to GS for the nose and rear and that dried in 20 minutes in our Heat ... Very Quick and convenient !!! Now I’m only using T2 for things where I can afford to wait ... or where I need a precise fit .... we found GG or GS does expand the joins somewhat ... affecting the fit of certain components ... Lucky , there’s enough flexibility designed into the FS where a little variance is not a problem ... but we did use T2 only for the door ... That HAS to fit right eh ?
Regan , I’d certainly Love to get a little more decorative with the FS , but time and budgetary constraints are only allowing a simple build ... at first ... There’s nothing says it won’t get more decorated “down the road” ... a “work in progress” . 8) Funny , the wife and I were talking about this last night .... what we “could" do with the trailer ... but she set down the basic parameters that she would absolutely need and expect ...
1. AC
2. Comfortable
3. Privacy
4. Potty
5 . Ice

So that’s what I have to provide First !!! So for now it’s small (tiny) Teardrop style windows (3) and a simple decor ...later on , who knows... many possibilities ...

Please excuse my ignorance , but what is CRA ??? Sorry , I don’t get out much ...

Ps. Got my notice from the Wal Mart my little AC has arrived and is ready for pickup ... That means I can frame in for that and get yet another requirement fulfilled ... 8)
With the windows due on the 9th, we should be able to finally start the covering soon .. :dancing

Just had another thought ( ) ... Looking at that door makes me want to try pre-skinning it with some of the heavy Kraft paper I have ... Years ago we used to cover bead-board foam wings with elmer’s and kraft paper ,making them very strong and providing a smooth surface to paint on ...
This might work well on the door too , somewhat hardening’ the surfaces for long term usage , and making the canvas look Nice ... Just an extra step of “overbuilding” ... Thrifty too!! And good practice for papering the inside with the same material ... ;)

I think your door is the perfect place to add the kraft (craft?) paper. Laminated on it will add a lot of diagonal stiffness (resistance to sagging) and should certainly add a bunch of dent resistance, too… a good thing for a door! Heck, you may want to consider beefing up the bottom of the door a little, too,… kick plate.

Thanks KC, it seemed “logical” eh ? OK, here’s what it looks like .... secured with straight T2 brushed on thinly but thoroughly ... immediately we were reminded that when that heavy paper got wet (from the glue alone ) it would wrinkle like crazy , leading to much lifting and smoothing .... grrrrr!!! :o The thing was to let the adhesive sit a while and tack up slightly , losing most of that excess water that would cause paper swelling .... on the places where we waited, it was Much easier to deal with, much less wrinkling ... But then , when it dries it all shrinks back really nice and Smooooth ... 8)
Actually this is even trickier than applying canvas ... For the next side , maybe papering with the Gripper ?... :NC

Kick plate ... Yes , absolutely , Thanks !!!

CRA Cross Roads of America, I probably will be the only one with a foamie. It is a biannual (every two years) camping BiG campout in Indiana. I will be in campsite #9 I am looking so forward to it. That is my dead line for my foamie. get it road worthy. dont care about shelves in the galley I can live without that just dried in and drive. Your Door looks Good. It is going to rain for the next three days so 1-4 inches but I gotta have the part I am working on glued and that is why I was asking about GS.

Thanks Mary !!! I had no idea !!! :o ‘’ Yes basic is all you need , you can always add more later ... :D ;)

Here’s the other side done with the Gripper , which IMHO was not as good to work with as the T2 ... didn’t grab as well ,and doesn’t seem to wrinkle any less... initially ... may have to re-glue the edges ... Now that’s got me wondering if we don’t want to do the canvas covering with T2 instead of the gripper ... We know that works and how it works , having done it before ... and it’s Cheaper too ... Hmmmmm?
