Hopefully an expert will chime in and say if I am wrong.

The canvass lap really does not matter and is a personal choice.

The paint that coats/saturates the canvass is what makes it waterproof so orientation really is not important.

I like the horizontal look

Mary, are we talking foam or canvas?

The foam might be hard to get to curl in the short direction due to a lack of leverage on itself. In other words, it might follow the profile better in the long direction.

For canvas, if you don't have large pieces, I would put the lower section on first and work my way up to the top of the hatch. Then from the hatch spar forward. Any seams in a vertical front wall should be reversed; put the bottom piece on first, but once it starts to flatten out, and road wind has a chance to drive under a seam, I would switch to "shingling" the seams toward the rear.

I am talking about canvas I have to put it on in two pieces and didn't know where to put the seam. Right down the middle A or in the center laterally c or off center laterally b or d. I am inclined to use c. putting the bottom layer on first then the top .........................What he said. i will over lap the selvages so it will be very neat. since it is on the back.

Thanks

2nd. For foam I'd use A, but for the canvas, C.

What I wanted to get done today didn't happen I am having to get my car worked on and it was necessary to drive
to Douglasville and Tallapoosa and to temple. Today has been very tiring. And still have to take my car to Tallapoosa again tomorrow. 11:00 and will not get home till about 2:00 Then I will start Canvasing the Teardrop!!!! I have been wondering where I was going to put the canvas and I finally came up with how bout the old unused and cutoff pieces of foam. DUH!!!! I am so tired. I will try to get some pictures. ........

Ok I decided that I have to move my TD out of the barn and into the sun I cannot canvas till the front of the trailer dries. at least the top layer of foam to the other layer. It is drying so slow. I thought it was dry but no so I will let the sun help in the morning. and will get everything ready to leave and then put on the canvas in the morrow!!!

I'm with KC on this. I would do it like he suggests... That's my 2 cents

ok so I went back out and glued on the other side. and I did finish the edges on the first side gotta do that tomorrow on the last side and cover the top then cover the hatch and then hang doors and hatch.

and yes right before the downpours I moved it into the barn then the sun cam out and I moved it back out and worked on it.

gotta go, I got lots to do...........If I keep at it I might make it. I Have boards around the base and I have to take those off to wrap the bottom with the canvas but for now I am rolling it up and stapling it to the board. I will also cover the top with a tarp for the trip up, I plan to let it be the Show Off. and work on it. I am taking my tools and paint
