Coroplast foamie?

I was able to get several top sheets from a yard/moving sale. They had a bunch of clothes out and some old towels so I asked if they had any old sheets. The lady said sure she did, but she had not put them out because she figured nobody would want them. I got a pair of wooden crutches (for adjustable side table legs), a breakfast-in-bed tray table, two king and one queen sized top sheets (and maybe something else I am forgetting ) for $5.

Yeah, I've thought of sheets at garage sales, DAV, and thrift stores. For whatever reason, there just aren't any, and right now, weather hasn't been conducive to garage sales.

Tund , we used 18 oz. canvas on the FoamStream... Thick stuff ... only because we were covering Beaded foam (that I got cheap) .. and we wanted a Strong outer skin ... and it is ...
On the foamie #1 we used a Linen canvas that we had for painting on (very strong , yet light) , and bedsheets to cover the inside , which turned out very nice and still added significant strength ..
Practically any common fabric will work ...

my tear has 10 oz canvas, three years old now. I'm testing an old worn out bed sheet on my roof hatch on the house right now. (poor mans fiberglass)

I’m still intrigued with the idea of Burlap as a skin... Cheap enough for any budget!!! Free if you use “sacks” !!! If you want STRONGER, double it up ... “two skins are better than one “ .. OK, it does have a large weave, but that could be filled in another manner... something we’ve not discussed as yet (as I can remember)
Acrylic Modeling Paste ... Acrylic, so is paint compatible , Flexible , perfect for our use, very “FILLING” ... used as a "skim coat" , with a little practice , it’e easy to achieve a very smooth finish ... You don’t need much because you’re not building up a finish (sculpting , it’s intended purpose) , but merely filling in the weave... It does take a little practice to get it “just right” ...or just put on another coat ... it sands well too ... I’ve used this preparing canvas for painting , some of which was a very coarse weave , much akin to a sack ... ( I remember seeing a Van Gogh at the Met that was painted on a sack ... True !!!)

The test : Try tearing a Burlap sack with your hands... ain’t gonna’ happen !!!

I have a feeling that burlap might be hard to find. I haven't seen a burlap sack in years. i've seen the synthetic replacement and lots of paper sacks but not burlap. Anyone else seen burlap in common use. I'm pretty much a city kid so that probably explains why I don't.

Yeah, burlap just isn't used anymore. You can buy the material ,but it isn't too cheap either.

GPW, checked out site you mentioned. 6oz on sale for $6 a yard. Normally $10 a yard. Heavier weights run more $$. Not sure if it's a "permanent sale" or a real one. At their normal prices, higher than local fabric stores by a $1 or so.

I DID finally find some canvas drop cloths at a Menards a 9x12 for $13. The local Lowes and HD don't normally even have canvas. Just the cheapie plastic stuff.

So, those drop cloths are certainly more in the price range I'm looking.

Old thread but Coroplast 1/ Canbe had in colors. 2/ It is used in signs and can be spec'd UV resistant 3/ can be pained (Fusion) 4/ Joinable with Hot glue or any glue approved fot Polethylene 5/ Amazing strength in lanination especially Cross laminated 6/ Easily cut/shaped 7/ Fiber glassed over 8/ Stitched with Zip ties or rivets 9/ available in various thicknesses 10/ Hard to beat in strength/weight/cost comparison

The only thing about Coroplast ....how do you repair it ???
