Next thought, very rough, but I do live in Southern California.
I know the 'sketching' gives a motion that will not be there with solid paint. More planning needed

I like that series, a lot. Unfortunately the detail is far to great, and much to easy to get it wrong. A paint job like this is much too easy to do wrong. And when it's bad, it's horrible.
I want it to look good, not like a cartoon. But 'realistic' is much too difficult.
I guess all I desire is perfection, is that too much to ask?

Rog, I don’t know if you saw the first couple pages of my Album , but there’s step by step pictures on typical mural painting ... That may give you some ideas ... and always remember, with graphic images , simple is Better... Less IS More !!!

For transferring the image , you can lay out the drawing , make corrections etc, all on a sheet of large paper (brown Kraft paper works fine) then use a star punch to perforate the final lines , tape it in place exact , use a bag (old rag) filled with chalk line dust , and pounce over the holes with the bag , leaving a series of dots underneath to indicate the lines for taping/masking off or whatever. I like to freehand between the dots (brush) ... saves tape and effort , and I think I get a cleaner line too ... For the other side , just flip the paper over... EASY !!!

Realistic is merely a matter of getting the colors right ...

Do they still have art classes at your local high school? I bet if you contacted the art teacher there and explained what you want to accomplish, they could recommend a talented young artist who would jump at the chance to help you with your project just for the experience; maybe offer a token commission and provide the supplies.

Just a tip. If you go to your nearest ACE Hardware you will find their version of Rustoleum called Ace Rust Stop. They can mix their white, also known as base, to any color you want. Looks like Rustoleum, acts like Rustoleum, smells like Rustoleum. I really think it is Rustoleum except you are not limited to a few colors.

Rog , at this point , I think you should do it all yourself , your design , and what you want ... It’s all yours then , and if anyone else doesn’t like it they can just bugger off eh ...

I shot the rust-o on the tear. One full quart just barely covered one coat. The second went on much better. And I reacquainted my self with my gun, that helps. A bit of paint left for tongue box to come.

Next step- graphics, as it is now a monochromatic almond shinny egg, looks good but boring.
