Nookery Updates -- 25 Oct Update. Working on the galley

Thanks everyone. I started canvas glue up on the galley box today. So hot and humid the floor glue was still tacky to the touch.

Maybe. Probably another month of hot yet. It is cooler -- high 80s instead of high 90s -- the humidity hasn't changed much and it's brutal.

Well, you know it’s VERY Humid here... Rains EVERY day now ...

So the rain has abated. I can get back to the Nookery. I need some help deciding something. The galley will be mated permanently to the back wall with pls40 and screws and probably some great stuff to fill gaps. Should I primer and paint the back of the galley prior to joining? Right now it's canvas and copious amounts of TBII. I keep going back and forth. Just primer? Nothing? Primer and paint. What a thing to get stuck on.

Tomorrow's plan is to finish the inside floor attachments and get ready to squirt GS into all the crevices and gaps. I will be repainting the interior and would like to get that finished ASAP.

Bonnie , JMHO, Think I’d wait to paint , just because you may have to do more sanding and trimming ... Paint can go on last ...no problem ...
If you do have some tough spots to paint ( like inside ceilings , etc. ) you “could" paint them before assembly just to make it easy on yourself ... Then you’d only have to touch up the seams ...

We have connection! The galley is glued and screwed to the floor and back wall.



Door side shot. Pretty even and level in a very loose TLAR way. There is a gap between the two walls. I'm going to try using the low volume GStuff and fill inbetween later.



Driver's side shot. Less even but still pretty level. Filled in the gap with small wedges of foam. Spackle and GStuff will finish the rest.



Close shot of the foam filler. It is sitting in the adhesive for the floor, so I'm sure it will stay put.



I had hoped to use the hatch like the simple foamie, but it's lifted height would have been right at 5'. A head knocked even for me,so I went with galley doors. I'm using only one door to stabilize the back, just in case anyone is wondering.

Wow!!! That’s coming along Great !!! Really a good example of how you can add or subtract to a basic Foamie ... !!!

Great weather here. I was able to get all the filling and spackling done. I filled the gap between the galley and the cabin with great stuff and then trimmed it off after it set up. I then used the drywall fiberglass tape and spackle to smooth and reinforce the joint. I'm thinking I may run a piece of canvas over the entire area to seal it completely. I will wait until I have one coat of gripper on it to decide. I'm only painting just past the edge of the floor canvas for right now. I can't finish the roof line until the cabin is flipped back upright. It looks like I'll be able to use the natural divide of the two pieces to make a rain gutter at the back.
I did cut the power port holes in wall. That way, I'll only have to trim out one layer of canvas after everything is stuck down. I have to post the off my phone, so it will be a little while.

I can't tell you have much today's progress encouraged me. It's been such a slow process and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! It's not a train.

Today I was able to sand everything down and will begin grippering on Thursday. I did have time to try out a couple of solutions for a issue with having two inch walls.



This is the cable port hole. The cable port box is just a tad short. About 1/2 an inch



I tried out a plumbing piece that ended up too long. The 2nd option was a computer cable port. The one I tried was too small, so I'll swap it out tomorrow and hopefully all will be well.

The other thing that happened to day was a win. I bought Windows to upgrade the ventilation.



They aren't sized for two inch Windows. I was able to locate an extension piece for the crank. They came in today.



Not a bad day overall.

Nice windows !!! Bonnie , you’re becoming an Expert at modifying Foamie trailers ... that’s really coming along nicely ( JMHO ) ...

Today's update is brought to you by the letter W and the number 3.



We have windows! Well, actually they are just dry fit and held in place with temp screws, but WOOT!!!!!

First the double window on the driver's side.



Then the on the passenger side by the door. I was getting tired; should have measured a third time.



Fixed it. No worries!



And a shot of the handle extension. When the window is trimmed out and such, it will be just right.



I'm going to using the flashing process to trim out the window areas inside and out. Then, I'll mount the windows with screws into the flashing. I bought butyl tape to seal the windows, but I think I'll use either the pls40 or the marine 5200 to mount the windows. With that, they won't leak or come out.
