Mary,
Thanks for the reply !
It was Lonewolf that has the broken arm ...

Lonewolf,
I hope you're doing better :NC ?

I am glad to be back... I've only been able to work a little bit here and there on the Big Pink.
There was just enough room for the thinner hinge, but that was only by luck and not by planning.

LOL.... I'm doing better, hope to get rid of this cast next week :worship: Rain here all day yesterday then toranados last evening (small & short lived , thank God) They postponed our trick r treaters till today..... Been busy putting in a new security system in my home and shop this week... try that 1 handed.... I told ADT what they could do with their constant price increases and subscribed to a new system that uses cell signal... then shut off my landline as only reason I had it still was for security system... now my cost for security is cut in half....

Time for an update.
I've been doing a little bit now and then....
I thought I finished the door
115361

But after being outside in the rain, a small amount of water is running under the door. I might have to add a piece of something across the bottom of the door. That's the bottom in the picture where there's no gasket
115360
I also started on the inside. I cut out the foam in the front so I could have access to store things. I'll add a lip across the bottom to keep things from sliding out. 115362

And I cut the bed platform in half. I'll hinge the back half to access the rear compartments. I'll take out the middle piece so I can store the popup under there.
That'll leave the 2 side compartments. The front of the platform will be secured in place.
115363

Here's a picture from Mikes thread showing the foam compartments .
115365

After cutting out some more foam, I'm going to cover all exposed foam with canvas to protect the foam, and keep it from deteriorating.

Looking Good Tac !!! 8) We used a regular door threshold on our door bottom , and lots of sealant (caulk) ...

Just a light fabric over the interior foam will provide a significant increase in the strength .... I used old bedsheets with Great results .... and it was much easier to apply than a heavier canvas. ;)

See page 11 for update ....

Thanks Doc !
I also did the tongue extension (no pix) and set the front box in place to see what it would look like.
But that old wooden box is VERY heavy... I think it's way too heavy for the front. Especially since I plan on putting a 40 lb. AC in the middle of the front.
AC would be down low mounted on the floor. So I might cut the back and bottom out of the box and use it to "hide" the AC , maybe ? If I did that I wouldn't need the sliding shelf shown below.

In this picture you can see the sliding shelf.

Tac, that box is just too pretty to stick out on the front like that .... :o Maybe use it inside as Ballast (and storage) Put a Foam box on the front ... weighs nothing (or very little actually) ;)

Sliding shelf ??? is that access to the storage ... ?

The sliding shelf is potentially for the AC unit.
That's so I could slide the AC inside while not in use with a waterproof "door/cover".
To use the AC, open/remove the door and pull the back of the AC outside the TD.
Seems simple enough, there are many examples on the forum. The problem is the waterproofing part.

On the FS AC cutout , we made all the cuts face down at an angle towards the outside , assuming rain can’t go uphill... Just a canvas covered foam plug with thin ply glued on the back (cutout from the AC mount inside) ...Worked so far ... and the angle is a good angle for the unit to drain properly . Around here with all our humidity , they drip constantly .. making huge wet spots wherever they drain ... :frightened: ( a bucket, checked often, is indicated)

Looking good TAC, I agree with GPW, thats much too nice a box for the nose. If you're looking to shield you're AC with it, I'd make it out of foam, and faux paint the canvas to make it look like the wood box. I made my nose box out of foam, used a couple of 1x4's at the bottom to make it a bit more rigid and covered it in canvas. Works great!

You are doing great!! I like Mel's idea. I am still too far away to contemplate A/C or any type front box.

I haven't been able to get a lot done, but I have been doing a little.
Here's a pix of what it looked like under the bed support.

115365
So I cut out a bunch of the foam....
115362
and ended up with this.
116042
I don't like the idea of bare foam, so I'll be using the plastic corner support on top and covering in canvas
116041

I had a birthday recently, and got this for the TD
