Alright, Mel !
Looks great, especially with the foam trim. I can't wait to see it with a coat of primer on it to tie it all together.
What did you decide on for paint color ?

I've managed to get a primer coat on it but think I should put on one more. Glad to be rid of the pink. I have a picture of it but can't figure out how to post it here from an iPad. I'll be able to play with it tomorrow night when I'm in my hotel room. As far as a color scheme, the body will be an off white and the trim will be navy blue. Hope to be have the Road Foamie fully painted by the end of the week. That may be optimistic since it took me 4 1/2 hours to do one primer coat and I'm on the road on business until Thursday. Hopefully the subsequent coats go on faster.

The pre-primed surface should cover much faster , nothing to fill , less “drag” ...

I'm hoping your right. The prep work should also go faster since I already have everything in place and the little bit of masking done

I might br road ready but my wife has our social calendar filled up for that weekend. Unionville sounds like a nice spot. Wish I could be there

I promised pictures once I got it primed and here they are. I never did figure out how to make it work from an iPad, so I'm back on my trusty (read that as old and slow) computer. Funny, it looks smaller in white than it did in pink. That's OK with me. One more primer coat tomorrow and then paint on the weekend. From this point forward to ensure a smoother finish, I will be spraying. That's the plan anyway...

The transition from straight to curve on the trim at the top looks odd. Don't know if I can fix it, may have to live with it  :( :o

A little great stuff and a fairing board would finish out that transition nicely. I really like how this one is shaping up.

I added the trim for two reasons. First it strengthens that joint, second, it hides a lot of ugliness, so you could definitely use it to hide that bump. Only problem is that it is tedious work. There are a lot of little steps to it. I'd put in a few hours at it and it looked like I hadn't been doing anything, but it does eventually get there.

Sounds like a good idea. If my haste doesn't stop me from doing it, I may give it a go. I'm trying to have this totally complete by the 27th of this month. I've got a shakedown trip planned for that weekend before taking it out for 11 days to the Norcal/Oregon coast in mid October. I may live with it for now and come back to fix it upon my return from the trip....

You guys and all your little “details” ... I think it Looks GOOD ... as is !!! The little curve on the trim gives it a detached retro rocket hatch/canopy sorta’ look , snappy paint job would make this look SUPER !!! (and some doors )

LOVE the lower side trim panels/Fins ... 8) 8) 8)

I concur.

Re: the upper front side trim. The little rise in the side wall trim isn't so bad, but it almost looks like that carries into the roof line. The later would be pretty hard to fair w/o thinning the roof quite a bit (if I'm reading the photo correctly). Fixing the trim on the side wall would go a long way to smoothing the over all look, if that is what you want.

I have been finding the GG (and presumably the Great Stuff) to be much much harder to sand than the wall board XPS. Heck of a time getting the GG to fair really well w/o gouging the XPS. That said, I would maybe try cutting a piece of XPS and working that as close to what ever filler piece you like, then glue it in before final fairing. $.02 worth of thought.

But as a wise man once said, you have no one to please but yourself. Work on it until you are satisfied that you will be happy. Enjoy it, change it, leave it the same, so long as you are having fun, it is all good!

The wedge along the bottom and the wheels really sets the theme.

i think someone on another post on this site blamed it on his German heritage. I have my Japanese heritage to blame. You know those areas where no one will see your work, well, in my childhood I was reminded that I will always know that I took a shortcut if I didn't finish it the right way. You guys are right. It's probably just fine as it is and I am really the only one it's gonna bother, but we'll have to see if I can live with it. For now, it will stay as is. The main body paint goes on tomorrow, barring any unexpected issues, the trim gets done on Sunday. Doors get hung on Tuesday evening?
