we are back and we finally have power back on. yippee. now here is a strange thing. the place we took safty at..got more damage than our area.

we live east, they live west. you could tell a storm went thru over there, but not here. my area you can't even tell it rained. did it even rain where we live? i really couldn't tell.

i did take the foamie, but mainly for hauling.

thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers, they really worked for us.

we bugged out to another tearjerkers home. they lost power, but being that they are tearjerkers, we had hot coffee and tea in the morning. gonna love having camping gear. i actually did not have it in my foamie though, because llike i said i really used it more for hauling than camping.

we took 3 of 4 dogs. left the big mean one in her pen. with 11 people, 3 dogs and 1 cat, there just was not more room for the big girl. we felt bad, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to. there are some branches down in the woods in the ponies back pasture. so we going to have to go out tomorrow and remove that from their fence.

anyway toto, we're home, and there's no place like home. :D

Very glad to hear our moderator is OK. Who else was going to keep this motley crew in order??????????

I guess you're pretty lucky. From what I recall the last one missed you too. HMMMM, maybe a run to Vegas is in order??? 8)

OK maybe it's just cuz you live right. Anyway, glad to hear all worked out.

Hi eaglesdare/Louella,

Good to hear all is well and you had no significant damage. And the
power is back on too!

My cousins in Chesapeake, VA were just as fortunate - just a few
tree limbs down, no real damage otherwise.

'Hope you all settle back in fast.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

thank you all. yes we were very lucky. and i suppose have been considering isabell cat 5 that came a few years back and we only had a leaf fall out of the tree on that one. that is why i really thought we were going to get slammed by irene. how many times can one luck out?

gotta keep an eye on the next one that is out there.

i spent most of yesterday just walking around and staying in bed. i took a fall up where we stayed. he has stone steps and boy do they get slippery when wet! ouch. so both wrists/hands and both knees are swollen and pretty sore. they are getting better today though.
..as we were driving out there, we saw some debri in the road, but then the debri started slithering, and by then it was too late to turn, so we ran it over. it was a copperhead. took a few minutes for me to recover from that.

had a blonde moment while sitting at a red light. the light turned green for the left turning folk, but my peripheral vision caught the movement of the cars and i took off, then it hit me in the middle of that mess that the light for going straight was still red. but i had no choice at that moment but to continue going thru the red.

came to a blinking red, had another blonde moment, waiting for it to start blinking green.

the 1 yr old fell into a table, got a huge egg on her forehead. my 28 yr old got a busted, fat lip when the baby thru a toy at her. our host got a migraine. hubby drank the 500lbs of beer and had to take the wrath of my when we got hom. now that was not a pretty sight.

oh and hubby's van did not have working wipers! and it was just like a cartoon rain cloud over us as we were driving. that darn rain stayed right with us. my daughter looked on her phone gadget thing and that red spot was staying in our path. everything around us was clear. so we pulled over and tried to wait it out. then we would take off again, and hit that stupid cloud again, pull over and wait. saw 3 (might have been the same one, but saw it 3 different times) a beautiful rainbow while we waited. now i don't think the rain cloud ever left us, but it did disolve.
.the foamie insides were pretty well soaked. remember i stuck the old door back on. the good news, the hatch stayed dry., but not the mattress. although it seems dried out now. but i really need to keep it tarped or fix that darn door.

wow, did not mean to write a novel.

Hey Eagle,

Wow, sometimes survival is the best to be hoped for. At least you got a rainbow and tomorrow is a new day!

oh we were also so messed up with our directions, that we almost got headed towards the nose bleed bridge  and with out that 500lbs of beer. but i caught a signe that avoided it and we took a hard left turn. hubby did not understand what i was doing. we ended up over a bridge, but a small manageable one.
its impossible for us not to go over "A" bridge, but i will avoid the nose bleed one at all costs.

hubby did not need more than the 500lbs! it got so ugly that what remained of the beer (which was not much) i opened and poured down the deep sink!

That suggests a new meaning to painting on canvas. Are you going to apply that to painting on canvas teardrops?

Excellent...

How about if I bring my foamie, all canvased up, down to N.O. and let you paint some decorations on it?

Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, and so on and so forth?
