WW, I still haven’t tested the 3M green on the foam to glass/epoxy. Depending on how that pans out, if it doesn’t, I will probably use PL on the front curve over the epoxy. I’m liking the TB2 applied thinly for the rest of the foam to wood; when clamped properly I have had good luck with it and it is much more thrifty than all of the other options. The trick is getting a good press everywhere and being able to hold it for the required cure time. For foam to foam I think it will be a thin spread of PL.
Not only is New Zealand a fabulously beautiful country, the people have a friendly laid back attitude and there is not very much of a language barrier to contend with for us English speaking travelers, ‘ay whut mates?
Yesterday, I thickened the pot up to 75/25 poly and made another round. The areas that had 2 or 3 coats of 50/50 still showed some grain, but also had signs of soaking along the grain a lot further than where I had applied it. Based on your feedback I expanded the areas being treated to include the roof seam backers and the corners where the spars meet the top of the ceiling panels.
Hit the end grain on the top and bottom plank of the locker bump out.
Hit the recess for the hatch actuator switch.
Dabbed the brush bristles into the wire holes for the porch lights and around the area where the screws will go to hold the lights in place, even though these will get sealed with goop at install.
The top of the front wall splice was pretty well coated with epoxy from the glass reinforcing, but the lower edge wasn’t so I hit that area well.
Then I went back and hit all of the previous areas again; vent fan frame, ceiling edges, spar ends, marker light recesses, and door seal flanges (shown here).
On the door flange I made sure to hit the edge of the flange with extra attention.
It snowed just about all day Saturday and into the evening. For the most part it was wet with surface temps high enough to melt on contact, but as it cooled down in the evening it started to stick to the cars and grass. Yvette informs me that the crocuses started popping up, and now, as tradition holds, they have been snowed on. Also, I saw robins on the ground on my ride home, so spring is officially here.
Sunny today, but still taking Sunday off to relax and watch the drags 4-wide live from Charlotte.
