Let’s just say it’s a lot Lighter than a wooden one (without the camping gear ) If you build it with elaborate wooden cabinets etc, you can expect higher weights ... Foam is very light , it’s all the other stuff that adds the weight ... like wood as mentioned ^ ... which we are trying to eliminate the use of as much as possible to fulfill the original intent .... NO ROT !!!

how much does the average foamie weigh?

depends on your shape and size. mine is a 5x8 very little wood, weight total empty with only the mattress is about 500-550lbs (i did weigh it but i forget now lol), that number also includes the frame, which was about 265lbs.

I went with full cabinets and the like and my Foamie is 7 ft wide and 12 1/2 feet long and I am sure it is much lighter than a conventional build. My door which is conventionally built weighs more than the composite foam side of the trailer. One of these days I'm going to weigh mine. It is probably the heaviest foamy to date.

Towing these compared to my 4000+ lb. RV Beastie seems like there’s nothing there... All the Foamies so far have been less than Half that weight ... :o Moving my little foamie #1 around the driveway is easier than pulling the lawnmower ... sorta’. Guesstimated @< 500 lbs. Trailer rated @1195 lb , so at least I can carry the required 500lb. of Beer .... and the Ice to keep it in ( That’s a lotta’ ice ! ) ... 8)

That right there is an excellent reason to go foamie.

I hadn't thought about less rot, and I guess you're more flexible in your shapes, better insulated, too. May have to consider a build.
Being light, do they ever feel like they're getting blown around while towing (sway)?

Edit: (Dec 18th) I just noticed some creative editing has taken place.

I towed mine (a guesstimated 1100# monster of a Foamie) through a stormy week on the Oregon Coast and NorCal, put on about 1500 miles and never felt like I was being blown around. Not on the windy coast, not through stormy weather, not passing semi trucks along 70 mph I-5. NEVER!!!! :applause: Not even a little!!! I'm amazed how solid this thing is

How is everybody storing their Foamies this winter ? We don’t have snow here , but a foamie should be Good outside in the snow ... nothing to Rot , strong enough to support normal snow loads ... Just a word of warning .... Foam becomes Brittle at freezing temperatures and may even “shatter” if somebody hits it with a hammer ... or frozen Turkey ...
You folks in colder climates might want to test this on a piece of scrap foam .... Just FYI ...

Hey... I got lots of both. Lots of scrap foam and lots of cold weather. Time to throw a piece out on the deck and give it a whack at some point. I love destructive testing

Here’s another potential problem .... I just heard Glidden got bought out by PPG ... So Gripper may not be available ... here’s the dish ....

“ If you guys want the really good gripper ,the ones the professional/industrail painters use ,locate your nearest "Glidden Professional" store ,better hurry though ,they just got bought out by PPG and only the cheap Walmart/Home depot grades will be available before too long ...even those will fall by the wayside come july 2013. “ -- From RC Groups... :NC
