what say let's not kill this thread, let's keep it

But if you feel the need, please start another one or two covering things you want discussed I'm sure we will read them too.

My reason for that is because it has become very fractured and sometimes too social and I've stated many times that people browsing this wanting to build a camper need to go to the construction tips topic and start browsing all the related weight reduction threads there and read how all this works before going on a tangent and building a camper. A lot of the discussion here that involves the glue techniques and methods should be in the construction tips subforum so that a lot more people would be exposed to this new build type and get a lot more input into methodology and ideas.

Move the related threads to a foamy construction topic in the construction forum and any other pertinent ones to other things and rename this to like the foamy lounge where you can get your foamy social on as much as you want.

I hate to be the bad guy about things but if a new person were to try and browse this thread it is quite tedious to wade thru the non camper multitude of posts about things not even camper related. Remember this is a forum about building campers and other things related around them and not for shooting the breeze about anything and everything.

I came from a career in technology and server maintenance and hosting are not overly fun things to do and this forum floats over a database which grows with every post and thread thus size of storage is always something to consider because it costs money and I mean a lot.

I greatly appreciate and understand the costs and labor of love Mike and Chelle do for hosting this and even if people donate, we should always be THRIFTY minded about this very forum itself.

My intent is not to tick anyone off but remind all of us that the layout of this forum, subforums, topics, and threads we should always be mindful of making it concise, well organized, and expedient for all the future ttd and foamyholics anonymous.

Steve linuxmanxxx yet you go on doing what you don't want us to do?

I for one enjoy the banter between GPW, eaglesdare, StPatrón and others
I try to drop a nickel into mikes pocket ever once in a while
that does not give me any more privileges than one who doesn't it just makes me feel good to support this great site.

I'm waiting to see how the bubble issue is resolved and waiting to see what GPW will build next.

I'm off to VA today seems I take one step forward & two back.

now everyone knows that i am not a technical person, nor am i great with words, so having said that:

this thread will not be killed (unless mike himself tells me to do it). i have said this before.

yes, this thread is long, windy, off topic and any other word you want to throw in there. it is however, the thread i have decided will stay and be used as anyone sees fit. you can discuss anything in this thread.

we did try to break off the actual build posts when we got our own forum. but seriously going thru all those pages and moving to appropriate subforums, was too time consuming and was not reading properly, sometimes an idea was mentioned thru b.s.ing and without that b.s.ing it just did not read smoothly.

there are sticky's and other threads here for specific topics: glues, foams, kerfing etc. any ideas, suggestions about building should be and is encouraged to use those threads. if one is not there for your spcific topic or you can't find it, please feel free to start a new topic.
ask any questions either here or in a new thread. they will get answered, more than likely not by me (because i am not technical) but gpw will speak up and/or more knowledgable folks will.

so please, use the new topics, or add to existing threads about specific build phases. if you want something moved to another thread, let me know, i will do it IF its not asking that i do that through out this whole thread. LOL

i appreaciate everyones inputs, no matter what they are, technical or off topic. could it be that we are just running out of things to say, because no one is building using any new methods?

Eagle , the original concept is so Simple , I think we’ve gotten to the point that we’re just repeating ourselves :o ... There’s just not that much to it eh ??? ...
Foam , skins, a trailer, a little glue and paint, and out pops a Camper ...
Now admittedly the Devil IS in the details , and that’s where we have plenty of room to discuss the individual “particularsâ€

I'd rather see this thread keep on keepin' on.

Of course, everyone is free to diverge as they see fit. If other threads are spawned, so much the better.

That's the way think tanks are supposed to work. Where else would anyone go to discover the value of an SBU or puppies or driving across bridges (or not) or glue or exterior paint?

Shucks, if it ain't fun it's work.

I wholeheartedly agree with Eaglesdare about the continuity in the discontinuity of this thread. Yeah, we've jumped from here to there, discussed dogs, wives, husbands, 500 lbs of beer and the like but interspersed through all of it is some great information. I too was going to pass on reading this entire thread but persevered through it and was glad for it. (Granted it was half this size back when I read it). I say let's keep this thread but go ahead and use some of the other threads if you feel it's a more appropriate spot for your thoughts about building, design, limitations, engineering, etc. of a foamie.

Just my 2 cents

GPW I thought I was the only one who started the day in the dark.
my usual routine begins at around 5, 5:30 with that trip down the hall we all do every morning,
then to computer room to turn on computer, test blood glucose, test blood pressure,
take pills, take 2 shots of insulin, head to kitchen to fix breakfast
back to computer room to record glucose and blood pressure readings and meds.
check E-mail I'm getting a lot of spam lately, check on and record investments most people will say not to check investments everyday
But one friend lost $300,000 another $80,000 last year by not paying attention I didn't lose a penny in fact I gained.
log onto this site eat breakfast and read post
then off to shower and what ever else the day holds for me.
today I need to head to a town about 20 miles away and turn in an old battery so I can get core charge back
then to VA to return head strap for CPAP mask it came in the mail yesterday but it was suppose to have been a chin strap instead of head strap.
maybe out to lunch speaking about lunch one of the best meals we had in NOLA was in saint Barnard parish at a small restaurant great buffet of sea food. that was before the hurricane of course.

i think i have you all beat. simba likes his first "walk down the hall" (so to speak) at 430ish am, every day! do you know how dark and cold it is outside then? but its better he lets me know to go out, then to make a mess in my room.
i don't usually stay up though, i normally fall back asleep for about an hour. then i am up getting the kids going, taking care of the rest of the animals. breakfast for all, and get those kids out the door. then its nap time for the critters. and now its my time to sit and relax with my tea and the puter.
somewhere in there i also get the laundry going, and dishes cleaned up. i feel exhausted by the time i actually sit here and check up on all of you.

i think i have just about everything i need to start my taxes. but hubby is throwing a fit about me using the refund money. so i am going to have to really work on him to pull off a new trailer. i do want that so i can make a new foamie.
