GPW, my uncle used to wear one of those hats. His first one had beer logos from a certain St. Louis brewery on it. He wore it untul Grandma couldn't stand how bad it looked. She deconstructed what was left and made him a new one out of some denim she had laying around ( she made rugs so there was lots laying around). Then everyone in the family soon ended up with denim hats. I know he went through several over the years. He may even have one or two left. Grandma always made sure they disappeared if the holes got too large. But there was always a replacement.

Battleship linoleum, I believe that is the same stuff we used to use to make linoleum block prints ... Cool stuff ... 8)

What about the weight .... as I recall it was pretty Heavy ...TOUGH :o Wasn’t the original linoleum a mixture of compressed sawdust and linseed oil ??? Lots of the old flowery printed lino floors in the old houses here, it was Very popular for a long time .... Maybe time for a comeback...

WD , In the old days I suspect a LOT of these caps were homemade... Now I think they’re made by Chinese schoolgirls , or hippies in Oregon ... The 8 corner cap seems to be enjoying a revival , comfortable , keeps the sun off , kinda’ “hip” looking ... and most important , looks Good with cheap sunglasses .... 8)

Denim ... put that on the list ... and you just know I’ll HAVE to make a BEER Hat ... 8)

Now if I can only find a good material with little trailers on them .... trailer hats ... 8) 8) 8)

We old guys gotta’ keep Busy .... might as well be Productive ...

You foamies are chatty. That is why I had to unsubscribe a few times over the last year. Some good info, but it is impossible to find it :?

hey cars! :wine: i know its a bit hard to find anything in this thread. we did veer off at times. we have tried to start new threads on actual technical stuff. and this thread continues if we have something to say or throw ideas around. but it is also for just nothing.

please, if you need to find something that you know you read here, ask us. someone will help with reinventing the answer or will find it. i even have a hard time, but we continue on with life.

i also believe we pretty much said about all there is to say, until someone comes up with something different they want to discuss, or they want to build.

GPW if you could get a colmen fabric then I think you would become very popular with those hats

there the patio lights that are little coleman lanterns and just think one role makes 20 hats just power with a 9volt battery and a resistor ...I know easier said then done it would be like the fictional miners hat sprouting out like an antennae oh ok I'm done to much fresh air for me today...hahahahaha

Scary enough, but I'm sure glad I wasn't a passenger in this plane when it hit the bird.

Or ask the people on that USAir flight into the Hudson if they think birds and planes are a good mix :frightened: :frightened: :frightened:
