So waiting around the house tonight for a friend to show up. Thought to update the plans:

New windows, and deleted the tongue box.

And the new idea instead of the galley, a bunk bed (a la Eagle!). Also moved the bed back to make room for a wet/muddy doggie!

So, this week "off" wasn't as productive as I had hoped, an 11 month old has other ideas!

Did manage to get the sub floor framing tacked together:

and fully welded:

Out less than 1/16" over 8'! not bad for single handed with a couple of ratchet straps!

Got the temp coupler done up as well, and the axle mounted. Just need to mount some tires and put in some gussets and I can roll her out and clean the shop! :applause: Then it's time to actually start on the Foam!

Well, it's been almost a month, and I haven't gotten as much accomplished as I'd hoped, but at least the last couple of days have been productive!

Got the skirt mostly mounted, and all the other pieces at least cut and fitted! Also got the tires/wheels mounted. These weren't plan A, but they ended up being free!
Image

Oh, and since they weren't the original plan....
Image
They don't fit! Oh, well new axle on it's way...so much for thrifty!

Something got messed with the ride height with that tire/wheel combo as well:
Image
26"? Really?

Some heavy metal:
Image

and my "entry step" which is currently 27" off the ground!

Eagle, it was only 41* (106*) yesterday. It cooled off after midnight though!

GPW, I think I'm going to flip the axle, and add some kind of stairs.

I've got a similar problem with my 48 X 41 HF trailer and my van.
G20 Chevy van - lifted prerunner suspension - center of trailer ball is at 24 " and lower van door sill is 29 inches. New meaning to 'Hop In'

Lower the van back down or raise the trailer on bigger wheels and tires.

Let us know if you find some inexpensive single steps. Fold up or even fixed.

DJT, I recall you saying you need this for off road .... maybe you need the clearance , depending where you go ? ... How about a pull out RV step kinda' thing??? that would help huh ... ?

Funny thing is, I can't seem to justify the expense of the things from the RV supply (even though the budget for this is pretty mug shot as is!). I guess I'll have to scout out the wreckers... A friend suggested looking at big rig/tractor steps?

When I was young, a neighbor had a pickup with a slide in camper. There was a flip down step bolted to the step section of the rear bumper. I really don't remember what it looked like, but when it was folded, the top surface of the step rested on the step of the bumper in such a way as to not obstruct the license plate.

Interesting ideas! I wonder if I could do a fold up step into the footwell? Then maybe just a step stool on the ground? I might be over thinking this! K.I.S.S. right?
