If these are reasonably priced and not break the bank figures, this would by far be the best method of any we have come up with for making it look good and more of a permanent seriously long life build and still nothing like the cost of a wood based version. Found the store finally 2 gallon kit of the FR-Lite which would be perfect for using is 132 and creates a hard FLEXIBLE plastic surface over all the surface types we use on foamys and honestly if this works like it says putting it over the fiberglass screen and forget the cloth would make for a hell of a strong light flexible build and not too damaging to the wallet and then you could use a cloth/glue for the inside and keep the cost down still. A friggin plastic foamy how cool is that

FWIW Allan, I just glued various possible skin materials to foam using the Hot Wire Foam Factory's Foam Fusion Glue and of the 4 materials I tried, the screen mesh adhered the worst (by far). I tried gluing down fiberglass, nylon mesh, canvas and the screen mesh. It might wo9rk different with another glue, but just thought you might like to know. I'm letting the test samples dry and cure right now but the screen mesh does not look promising. I'll post pics after the sample cures and I get to tugging and pulling at it

HMMM sounds promising. Who's gonna run a test?????  OK, this intrigues me, so I just sent an email to the company asking for a sample of the product. We'll see what kind of reply I get. If I get my hands on a sample I'll run some tests

I'm not really that much of a stand up guy, it's just that my curiosity has the best of me and since I'm still perplexed about the best way to skin the outside of the Road Foamie, I'm really kind of doing it for myself. But I'm always willing to share results and ideas since I've borrowed liberally from those who preceded me. Just paying this group back. Besides till I get my arm outta this sling (10 days to 2 weeks hopefully) I gotta do something to keep from going crazy. I can at least put samples together with one good arm and 1/4th of the other. :? :?

Might have been more believable if they gave examples of Zoos , etc. where their product was being used (for a while) ....

Apologies, but we’ve learned over these many years Not to believe Anything we see, hear ,or read on the internet (advertisers) , Television , or Political ads ... Only through our small community efforts can we find the Truth of these things ... ;)

I’m sure hoping something like this works out well, and we’d All benefit !!!

If anyone is interested in the test that I did and the results it's in the top sticky on this topic. In summary, the hwff glue did a great job as did their foam coat.

So far, as I am still testing combinations. I'm thinking the hwff Foam Fusion with a top coat of Foam Coat with the boost additive. As I said, still testing different methods and combinations. I'm still playing with the fabric and it may come down to price. So far anyway, stay in tune...

Mel . after much reading and watching of the videos , I think that the short working time could be a problem , and the price is still a major consideration ..

Somehow , I still feel very secure with a good heavy canvas skin , and with Big Mike’s revelation of how well Latex paint worked as a fabric adhesive , that seems good enough for me ... I know you guys are going for a shiny finished look ... But I still can’t trust anything “Plastic" outside in the weather over time ... especially given the long History of painted canvas... and it’s proven durability ... and thriftiness ...

All comes down to what is right for your needs and wants ...

The folks at HWFF have a video that shows them doing a flat surface with literally a bucket load of the Foam Coat. It appears to be in real time and the have the entire piece (looks about 4' x 8') done in just a few minutes so I think it should work if I do the all the pieces on the flat and then stand them up to join walls and roof. Think it should work but I guess I only get the one shot to get it right. Unfortunately, I'm hung up on getting a smooth coat. So when I get there I'll let you all know so you can say your prayers for me :R  :worship:

Mel, I can see where doing all the panels flat would be entirely possible . The question becomes , how do you join the panels with a smooth glossy seam ? Rv style with a joining trim piece ?? More HW product over the seams ? Just wondering if you didn’t get it right the first time , how difficult would it be to sand , repair, refinish .. and yet maintain a smooth glossy finish ?
