Just came across some green "ground cover" material in the utility room. About 10' by (I think) either 12' or 20'. Any ideas about using that on the walls and roof? This is the woven cloth type, but I have some of the non-woven kind, too. I know, there I go thinking again.

Plastic fibers don't absorb the glue and tend not to stick, whereas cotton fibers do absorb the glue and make a composite layer. Most landscaping fabric is not organic unless it is designed to "dissolve" (biodegrade) into the ground over time.

Thinking again. After looking at a post about a "standie" w a drop floor, I'm wondering how I might lengthen the tongue for the "FOAM DUCK" And still use a drop floor so I can get it into the garage. Wondering if I could use a "squared Y" shape extension which would come to the front cross member of the HF frame, then use a cross bar (bolted and/or welded to the frame) with two arms going back to almost the axle/spring mounts. Also, could heavy bed frame raols be used for the cfoss member and arms? The wZy I figure it would have and inside height of 5'6" and 5'8"+. DW and I are both 5'4" or less.

Regarding the Duck .... (the logo) My Artistic natures makes me want to refine the drawing beyond your daughters original sketch , producing a more ‘finished’ image ... Is that OK ... Not really changing anything , just making it Better ...

I am sorry to say this but the complete and utter rebuilding of a HF frame to make an open floored standee is just way off base.

You would be far better to invest in a frame design that utilized single independent shaft axles

and avoid the single axle running across the floor. As to the tongue let the side rails blend together and join to become the tongue and coupler ( see pic below)




This all could be done with rather light weight structural square tube. With a little thinking you could deepen the sides on the frame and have the upper body slip over the lower making a hi - low design that would help towing drag and storage constraints.

Here is a much more practical frame design.............



see how the main side rails blend to form the tongue. This one still has a cross axle but it has a nice drop to help step down the floor.

All of the floor support is also under slung beneath the main side rails and really could be dropped even a bit further.

This is more of what you are looking for in my opinion !

I have been able to pick up abandoned and un loved little canned ham style trailers for under $200.00 on 4 or 5 occasions. I just stopped and asked !

So do some road work and look for a likely candidate. Crawl under and check out your new frame. Often you can get other great stuff like stoves , sinks , electrical goodies, heaters , and on and on.......
