There was no progress this weekend, as we were entertaining guests, that were not interested in building teardrops.

But next weekend again for sure!

Mike ....... I just found this Foamie Thread =)
Looks like you are doing a great job and design.

I wonder if Dove-tail jointing in main body panels if it would work in making a strong and one-piece type construction of a shell.

Ark, sounds like another good method to try ... Cool idea , just snap together ... 8)

This is Mike's weekend for trailer building ... anxious to see what he comes up with ... He's built more TDs than anybody ... so his Foamie should be "Primo" , and a great example for the rest of us ...

No fair!!! You guys want big miracles, and I'm just building a little standie!!!

Besides, I'm not working on foam this morning. I'm working on the subfloor. Since I'm taking a lunch break, I'll give you a couple pics...

These 5 pics will give you an idea what I am playing with today...

Here I've glued on the subfloor cleats on the inside of the dropped floor. I tried doing it on the outside a couple weekends ago, but then I couldn't get the dropped floor to drop into the hole in the frame. :duh:

Image

Here's the dropped floor installed. We are going to put some poly on the dropped floor this afternoon, so we don't mess it all up with dirty footprints!

Image

I also installed the keys on one side. The position seems right, so I'll take em off this afternoon, put some glue on them, and put them right back on. Here's the front key... (BTW, notice how it reinforces the front overhang!!!

Image

Here's the rear key..

Image

And here's the wall, setting on top of the keys, with spacers that represent the 1/2" plywood floor. If there is anytime I'll start on that later today...

Image

I think I need one of those hats that hold a can of beer on each side, with a straw to the mouth. It's pretty hot and humid out there today!!!

Mike...

P.S. Has anyone ever tried cutting foam after the canvas has been glued onto the sides?

oh mike that is looking great!

i did cut a hole in the foam for an outlet, before the canvas was on. once the canvas was on i forgot about that hole and have never gone back to cut thru.

so if you do it, you will be the first. that is unless gpw or pat has, but i don't remember them saying anything about that.

Great Pics ... 8) 8) 8) Love those Keys and dropped floor !!!!!

Best score through the canvas before you cut the foam (utility knife and a metal ruler ... careful not to slip and cut yourself)... to locate the corners inside , just drill small holes in the corners... connect the dots . Score inside fabric too and the cut will be super clean ... Tried it on samples/scraps

Chicken or Fish I like to tease my family with that saying. But of coarse they have no idea it I'm going out to the coop to catch a chicken or doing fresh catch fish.

Okay, dinner's over...

Here's the pics for this evening...

I want you guys to know that cutting foam with canvas is wonderful, easy, and clean! The canvas became part of the foam, and didn't need any special treatment. I cut it with a jig saw, piece of cake!!!

Image

Here I've set the wall in position...

Image

Now it time to glue some plywood down. we started with the center section, only because we were to lazy to drag a piece of plywood up from the basement. We did use a piece of plywood on the front to position the center section though..

Image

Okay, the plywood is down, and the screws are in... Notice how the plywood covers the keys!!!

Image

I mentioned earlier that we were going to get some poly on the dropped floor. Here's what that looks like...
