My backyard would be great for camping too but I can't get the Road Foamie back there and then there's the Crazy Lady across the way. I can see her shooin' me away just like she does to all the wildlife (coyotes, bears, raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks and the occasional domesticated dog) that gets near her lawn! :R :D

Oh, by the way, anytime you run out of beer it's no longer camping. It becomes a near-death ordeal... :(

   That reminds me. It stops being camping when the wife goes along. Because then I need to start worrying about things like swimming pools, showers, and restrooms. :R

 Ballast is needed to keep a light trailer on the road in cross winds. So, unless you are a rock collector, carrying a large enough amount of beer that you will return with enough ballast is a necessity for proper road safety. ;)

... and then there’s “mental “ ballast , where on chooses NOT to drive in dangerous adverse conditions ... The best ballast of all .... Smart ballast !!!~

Bogo , we appreciate your argumentative considerations ... But in all this time , we’ve only had ONE “Foamie disaster” , and that was more due to faulty design (too tall for it’s width ) and driving in excessively High cross winds ... a properly designed Foamie shouldn’t need any ballast to be safe under normal driving conditions ..
The Beer ballast idea is a long running joke here , not to be taken seriously , but more to just remind folks to Drive/ Tow safely ... and not to make their TD designs too Unstable (too tall vs width) ... Which would require such extreme measures as ballasting ... :frightened:

Unless you really like BEER , of course ...That’s a different story !!! 8) :D

I don't think Bogo was being negatively argumentative.

Sounded like left handed logic and a good excuse to carry even more beer!!!

If we are going to drink our ballast, just bring more!!!

That's how I read that, drinkers logic.

KC sez': "I don't think Bogo was being negatively argumentative.” .... No , of course not!!! ... but we all "agree to disagree" but only in the “constructive” manner ... Never negatively !!! :D

Funny , all this reminds me of when my FIL (RIP) and I used to run Coors and Little Olys from Brownwood Texas to here back in the early 70’s :o ... you couldn’t get it here ... The old Country Squire LOADED down with BEER , a blanket across the top ... Going past College Station , the old lights and siren came on ... :frightened: The State Trooper (with mirrored sunglasses and a HUGE Gun ) got out , walked up to the car and said “ What you boys got in the back ? “ ... :frightened: :frightened: :frightened:

“ Beer Sir !!! “ (as we lifted up the blanket )... “You boys been drinking any ? " .... "No Sir , not yet !!! “ ... " Ok , you can go , be careful and wait till you get home !!! “ “ Yes Sir !!!!!!!!” :worship: :phew:

What we do for a good Cold one eh ???

When does it stop being "camping"?

When it's time to pack up your gear and get back to the real world of job, bills, mortgage, etc.

Spending time outdoors in the woods, cooking over a camp fire, and enjoying the serenity of the trees, birds and a babbling brook (er... "crick" that is).

Wish I was there right now. (tough day at work today).

My next trip out is this weekend. Going shooting with the Kaw Valley Muzzle Loaders. This year I get to be in the advanced group so I get to shoot pistols, rifles, and shot guns. Then there is the knife and hawk throwing and archery thrown in for a little extra fun. Now that's campin'.

No ballast at this camp. We will have Scouts with us. Safety first.

YUP! See you then. I have a meeting in Walnut Creek, CA that should finish about 11. Then the 3 hour drive back to Reno to stop at the office to drop equipment, then drive home and hitch the trailer and make the 45 min or so drive to the campground. Hoping to get there about 5 or 6 pm. Maybe a bit later... AAAHHH!!! Camping!!!! :D :D :D
