Lookin' good!

But is that latex concrete block filler UV stabler? Just wanting
to ask before you get too far along.

Cheers,

We assume it’s going to be painted .... that would solve UV problems ... with the right paint ...

Cliff!

Did you hear the good news? Watson Mill returns to state park status. The county commissions ponies up and funded to fully staff the park!

Say Mark. I love the way that trailer is turning out. I must be the slowest foamie builder in the country. Even after accounting for the shoulder (which BTW is getting close to good) I still don't make progress as fast as you guys seem to. Anyway, keep up the good work! It's gonna be awesome :applause: :applause:

AWESOME!! No we had not heard that yet but g;ad they are! Its a beautiful park and to nice to just let t get trashed! I'm trying to have mine done by July now and we'll take it over to the SC border to one of the ACoE parks there so we can use our kayaks also.

Re: 5/21 - Houston, we have canvas.

Postby millstone » Mon May 21, 2012 6:59 pm

We got the canvas on the camper body over the weekend.

Image
I was a bit nervous. I could think of at least 150 ways to mess this up.

Image

My wife on the other hand was cool as a cucumber. She was amazing help.

It really wasn't as bad as I had built it up to be. The latex block filler stayed wet for us so that we could work the wrinkles out. We started at the top, pinned it, then worked in thirds down to the bottom.

Image

Cut the excess to within 2", then painted it in on top. When it dried, I put a light coat of spackling on the edge, to feather it to the foam. Probably overkill. Then I ran two one inch strips of blue masking tape the length of the trailer on the edges.

Image

And this in where we are today. I will go back with an x-acto knife, along the edges, just slightly inboard of the masking tape, and cut the top back. What should be left is an inch of overlap at the top, roof piece covering side pieces. Two more coats of block filler, sanded to the desired texture, then paint.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And I have Memorial Day Off!!!!!!

Mark.

Covering , although much dreaded for some reason , isn’t really hard at all... to any good crafts lady, it’s like a walk in the park ...

Mill, Looking GOOD !!! 8)

Millstone,

That is looking great! I went back and looked at the entire build just now and I'm amused that we tackled the bulkhead cabinets in pretty much the same way and we both decided on lauan for the interior. Great minds think alike... 8) 8) You've made some real progress as of late. This will be campable in no time!!!
