Hi all Foamlings,

Just ran across this new aircraft design on Gizmag. The gallery
pics [from #12 on If I recall correctly] show them crafting the first
full-size prototype fuselage body and wing using foam - and I assume
epoxy & fiberglass.

http://www.gizmag.com/synergy-aircraft- ... ght/22541/

Cheers,

Eagles. Looks like a nice trip and a nice camping area.

Here is the link to my latest trip. No foam but it was cheap. Camping in a national park without paying entrance or camping fees. Just gas and such.

Mordor

Now that I think about it last feburay I camped in Grand Canyon Park and didn't pay entrance or camping fees. Just call me Mr. Cheap Skate

The lavas there are way to young for gems to have formed yet. Have to go other places for those. There is a reason Idaho's nickname is "The Gem State"

Just thinking ... :o You know I wake up every day and am totally blown away by all the Foamie progress/development that has gone on here... 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) Maybe we need our own “Foamie’ Hall of Fame “ ... Would be a good way to keep track of all the Foamies that have been built ... and a quick reference (and proof  ) for the new folks that might want to build one ...

Wolf , a few carefully selected rocks can buy all the foam you want !!! Just keep an eye out .. ;)

Sounds like a great idea!!!! You and Louella get spots #1 and #2. So Louella, where do we go from here with the idea? I think it not only serves as proof of concept but also a great reference for those who wish to build. Just find one that strikes your fancy, read that build thread and you have a virtual "how-to manual" of sorts.

On another note, Hey Wolf.... How do you get into National Parks without paying? What's the secret?

Wouldn't that be somewhat of a duplication of the Foamie Builds sticky? Maybe we just need to change the name on that one and add to it when one gets rolling on down the road. Haven't actually seen much action on that thread, even though there is lots of building going on . Need to finish what we started... :frightened:

Which line do I stand in for that? I gotta get me some... done-ness that is. Capital 'D'. Campable, I say, I say (... Foghorn Leghorn resonating in my head).

Ah, but you, GPW, sir should be considered a "founding father". If I am correct, though you were not the first to build, you first came up with the idea and championed the cause. You also took the first loads of ...um. er...ahmmm... crap from the naysayers, steadfastly held your ground and convinced the rest of us that this idea is based on sound reasoning and actual engineering principles.

I got it..... We'll name it the GPW Foamie Hall of Fame. 8) 8)  :D :D . And it isn't even a posthumous honor ;) ;) :) . If this were an actual building, we'd even reserve a parking space out front for you!! :D 8) :R

I like to think of GPW as "The Godfather of the Modern Foamie Movement".

Sort of what Big Daddy Don Garlits was to the modern rear engined dragster. He didn't invent it, but he did work to perfect it and got all of the media attention when things started to take off. Close enough for me.

Those guys over in the vintage equipment section have their "Coleman Keepers Gang", but we got ourselves a movement over here, yup. We're the MFM, don't mess with us foamlings. ;) :R

1% er's.

WEll the Craters of Moon is real easy. Just go up the south part of it. Of course you still have to pay if you want to see the sights along the road up north at the headquarters. There is a lot of roads you can wonder around on out there, a few hundred miles of them. Can hike on the lavas. Camp and such.

The Grand Canyon is some what same strategy. Go to the out of the way places. I went to Toroweep.

And now I just remembered I did the same in Yellowstone. The south west corner of it you go in from St Anthony Idaho to Bechler Ranger Station just inside the park. from there you can go back packing in the most empty part of Yellowstone. Though the last time I was there was 1985, Could have changed since then.

How did the puppy hurt her paw, and how is she now?

I just returned from our trailer less trip to baltimore had a great time saw a lot ate a lot got tired a lot spent a lot.

returned home only to find I had some jobs lined up that needed to be done, GF's mothers car's license plate fell off
she drives at the same speed never slows down for bumps or railroad tracks.

then my brothers computer and clothes dryer quit both fixed now I haven't had time to wash dirty clothes or unpack suitcases.

I really miss my trailer but health is holding me back from getting one

being 70 and unable to get around with out my mobility scooter sucks.

I can do almost anything sitting down walking standing for-get-about-it.
