Ran into a bit of a delay this week. :( I was planning on painting the springs and re-installing the axle on Wednesday. When I got the springs all cleaned up to paint I discovered a crack in one of the leaves. Guess it's better to find it now instead in the middle of BFE, Texas.

Thursday morning I went by the spring place and found out they no longer make springs as long as the old ones. Spent a good share of the afternoon measuring and contemplating  . Finally decided to go with some springs 19" shorter then the old ones and ordered them from etrailer.

Got a new pair of rear axle hangers , so I'm going to have to grind some of my new paint off the trailer and weld the new hangers on, then repaint.

I spent all yesterday afternoon in the big blue store, buying plywood, paint , screws, and a/c.

Today I have to play in a charity softball game. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon will be all build time :worship:

Good you found that when you did !!! I’ve been broke down in BFE several times before .... somewhat less than thrilling !!! :frightened:
Typically:
“ Uh, sir, we have to order that part and it’ll take about 10 days to get in if the truck isn’t delayed by snow or a rock slide . There’s the Motel across the street , it’s the only one we got ... gets kinda’ busy in the evening ... so better get your room now ... and oh yeah , don’t eat the chili ..” :frightened: :NC :R

Pete, didn’t happen ... their wholesale prices were higher than Loews or HD ( a third more ) ... I still have trouble understanding that ... Only thing I can think of is they must supply the Government jobs , where price is seemingly no object ... :R

So, I had a revelation a couple days ago....the price of airfare has dropped significantly in the past couple weeks. I was actually able to get 2 tickets to Colorado for less then it would cost to drive. I can borrow a car and camping gear from my folks once I get there. Also I've been working way too hard on this trailer project the last couple weeks trying to meet my deadline. This project is for fun :) I already have a job I don't like ;) . That"s why I need a hobby. With this in mind, I have changed up my approach, and plane tickets have been purchased, and I can drink beer while I work on the trailer  I think I'll be much happier!
I have made some progress the last week anyway!
Image
Saturday-The new spring hangers are welded in and the trailer has a second coat of paint.

Sunday- I went to the big blue box store and bought some lumber, paint and an a/c unit.

Monday- Came home from work and took a quick nap. Then went to the big orange box for some foam.
Image
When that was unloaded, I staerted working on the dropped floor.
Image
Image
I had a piece of 3/4 oak ply left over from my kitchen remodel, (just big enough for the dropped section)already stained blue like my cabinets, so I guess I'll have a blue floor. Good thing I like blue :)
Image
Black goo spread around.

Tuesday- When I woke up I found the new springs had arrived from Etrailer.
Image
With the axle reinstalled we were able to push it down the driveway and turn it around. Then I started working on the regular floor.
Image

The work on the floor continued through the week
Image
I'm trying something different on the floor. I stuck strips of canvas about 8"wide along the edges of the bottom side of the floor which will get stuck to the foam. Then I can coat the entire bottom of the floor with black goo and make sure everything is sealed. Oh yeah, I did use some SUPER FOAMIE THREAD WATERPROOFER on the bottom of the plywood too.

Here is a high quality 3d drawing of my plan (not to scale)

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Rosie, I really like that design. It has a classic look to it. If I recall you do your own welding. There's a skill I wish I had. I agree with you, treat it as a hobby and it's less frustrating. 8) 8) And BTW, I love the blue floor. I bleed UCLA blue... Go Bruins!!

I like it. Looks kind of like a foam version of Doug's Sierra Nomad.

Gonna need more popcorn for this one.
