Stealth Foamie ...

Postby GPW » Sun Nov 11, 2012 9:16 am

Sometimes we just want to “blend in” ... with so many cargo trailers around here , they’ve become commonplace and go mostly unnoticed ... Just a thought of a Foamie camper that looks like everything else ... drawing no attention .... Some disguise tactics would be acceptable ... you could even draw the rivets on and give it a “weathered" finish ... never draw a second glance ... V nose is depicted for some wind penetration.. Best thing is you do the inside framework in any method/material you want ...

Maybe it's just me but somehow I think a toxic waste disposal unit is likely to draw more attention than a camper.

The idea is strictly a diversion and can read as anything you want ...

Glenn,

Are you going to build one?

Very Interesting. Would you still canvas skin or use something more commercial looking?

Basically a foamie enclosed trailer.
Like the window shade idea.

Use high tinted windows and maybe a skylight.

Naa!! Not building one ... Just bringing up an idea ... With the prices of CTs accelerating skyward , thought this could be easily done in a Thrifty manner , and provide some peace of mind for those that didn’t want to be obvious ...

Canvas is obviously thrifty and I like the look (even on the little bit that I used) and much easier to work than fiberglass. But a solid surface material such as FRP or aluminum would make it much stealthier.... The shell should be a pretty easy build, it's the interior and galley that will take up the time. Just a matter of how far you want to take it.

Love the way you think, Glenn!!! Can always count on you to stimulate the creative juices around here :applause:
