Gorilla Glue and Clothing

OK, be honest...

How many pieces of clothing have you managed to get glue on when building?

I have now taken out two of my favourite "Life Is Good' t-shirts and one work shirt on this project.

I remember my mother always giving dad 'heck' for doing the same thing.
Must be in the genes. (And I probably have some glue on those too)

Yeah , if it dries on clothing forget it , or just wear it again for the same job .... I even got some on my Blue “genes” ... 91% rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol gets it off , if you’re quick ...before it foams and sets up ...

Hard enough to get off skin ...

I've trashed more than my fair share of good clothes.

But I've finally got dedicated...

The pants with the green paint on them is for cool weather work.

The shorts with the white paint on them is for warm weather work.

The Lions Jacket with white paint on it is for when it's cool too.

When it's warm I prefer not to wear a shirt, because it all wears of the skin sooner or later...

As for the jeans and shirts that I've worn, and accidentally leaned up against the glue or paint... manure occureth!!!

I'm not one to toss a shirt out just because I got glue on it. Originally, I thought I would start a "Show us your worst shirt" thread; but, when I went to do that none of them were all that bad anymore. I found that if you keep wearing them to work in and washing them regularly, the glue eventually falls off and disappears! (It takes a few months.) Paint and stain? Now, that's a different story.

Please note that I used mostly Titebond III, PL 2000 construction glue, and TB & PL polyurethane glue, not a lot of gorilla glue. I don't know if that will make a difference or not. I kind of doubt it....

I've to a pair of dungarees that have a dime size dot of Gourilla glue. It was put there the first time I are the pants. The rest of the pants are faded, ratty, and generally used up. That dime size spot looks like new. The only way to remove that glue, is with a pair if scissors..

Nasty stuff....works great!

I can say that I do not have any clothes with Gorilla Glue on them, nor stained fingers. Hate the stuff, don't use it.

In a test by Fine Woodworking a few years ago, it was the only glue that failed.

As a furniture repair person, I've also seen my share of homeowner Gorilla Glue repairs that failed.

I hate gorilla glue,, I have ruined too many things. I have a shelf designated : work clothes. I take the two minutes to change into them when I am working, no use to ruin your good clothes. Yep I am a mother, and told my kids the same when they were growing up. ............. So don't work in your good clothes!!!!!

I kept my clothes from the first use of GG and i still use those when working with that glue.

Eagle , we saw this thing where you can take old glue soaked pants , stuff them temporarily with newspaper to get the shape , polyurethane them (soak) ,fill with dirt and they make nifty Planters ...

Edit: ... here’s one with chicken wire inside and pipes in the legs into the dirt to hold it up ...

I'm not sure I would say I'm shocked but I do want to put my minds eye out!!! EEEKKKKK! I've got my good clothes, my work clothes and my dirty work clothes and they all seem to end up in the dirty work clothes in the long run. I start off in work clothes thinking I won't get that dirty today and then all of a sudden I'm painting something or using the expanding foam or the GG. It's just part of the fun of being a soul who likes working with his hands when he's not working for a living. I often times think I went into the wrong kind of work. I must admit, I do make a good living at what I do, but I think I would have been happier working with my hands for a living. Funny though, I go through disposable gloves like they were free...

Being a artist for most of my life (43 years professionally) I can’t even think of all the good clothes I’ve ruined with a bit of paint ...

As of lately I’ve taken to wearing an apron when painting or gluing ... It helps ... just is more difficult to make a planter out of ...
