I brought home today a 12 ft plamor trailer today. Well Grandson says 12ft Grandpa says 10 ft. Right now all I know is it is light enough for me to pull, but yes I will feel the wind. But I am a slow driver anyway and think I will be able to handle it. I think it weighs around 750 to 900 lbs. I can push it around on level ground just like my 670 lb teardrop. It has a narrow bed in front and the dinette in back that of course turns into a double size bed. In the middle is the sink and stovetop then a cabinet. It has a vent on the roof. No AC. Grand pa posted it for 1,000 but his daughter saw it and told him that it is worth more than that. Grandpa just wanted to get it out of his driveway. He did not want to mess with it and told his daughter to buy it and relist it and if she gets more that a 1,000 then just give him half of what she get over a 1,000. I bought it for 2,500. (Ad was posted 3/13 I called 3-14 and Grandpa said that he sold it to his grandson but to keep an eye on Craigs list as his Grandson will be selling it. Which he did 3-16 asking for 3,000 If I over paid oh well. Least I did not have to go to another state to get one. Just about 32 miles. I test drove it with my Subaru Outback to make sure I could handle it. Icould feel the tug by the wind and can see I will need to drive a little extra slow if it gets windy. As I said above I think I will be able to handle it. The teardrop was my first time towing anything and now I went a little bit bigger. Since I still don't know how to back in a trailer Grandpa had to do it. I think he could of done it with his eyes closed.
Grand pa has owned it since 2005 before that one of their relatives owned it. He has kept it under a roof the time he owned it. They say there is no leaks. I could not see any water damage anywhere. I am going to the dam Gathering and hoping some of the experts here will look it over and tell me I did well. If I didn't I will just have to live with it. Felt bad for the Grandma she was not happy with her husband selling it. She let me know. She also told me with pride of where to put a portapottie. You could tell she really liked that trailer. Grandpa says he is to old for this nonsense (camping) and wants the room in his driveway.
My Grandaughter Serenity is already calling it her trailer. There is an empty license plate holder, I am thinking of naming the trailer Serenity's Dream after my grandaughter or My Shadow. That holder will be the perfect place for the trailers name. Isn't there someone on this site that makes plates with names or what ever you want on it?

Does anyone know anything about plamor trailers? Unfortunately, the company suffered a fire and all information, serial numbers and pictures have been destroyed. At this time, they make modern “Toy Haulers”.
Per the Tin Can Tourist site.

Kathy,

Congratulations!

Having been kept under a roof all its life is good.
Be aware however that over time the putty that creates a watertight seal around windows, doors, edge trim, roof vents, etc, will dry out and shrink.
When this happens, water will begin to creep in (un noticed :frightened: ) and by the time you realize there is a problem, the water will have done a great deal of damage.
Remember, it has to soak the faming inside the walls/ceiling before it ever reaches the backside of the paneling, then on to the interior.

I offer this not to scare you, but to make you aware that most owners do not realize how this process works. There are many horror stories out there from people who bought a perfectly preserved trailer, then parked it outside without ever considering that the regular maintenance that had been deferred all its life really needed to be done the minute they bought it.
Within a year, or even months, it was ruined by an un noticed leak(s).

When the putty seals dry out, smearing caulk all over the joints will not fix or correct the problem.
The trim, vents, etc. need to be removed so the putty can be replaced.
Any competent repair person or shop can do this work.

How offten should this be done? His grandson said that his grandpa took everything off the roof and resealed everything and then put it back. That would mean it was done in 2005. I would guess that he did the windows too. How do you tell if it needs to be redone? Thank you for the heads up.

Kathy,

Thats great news!

You simply inspect closely.
You are looking for gaps in the putty between the pieces being joined.
If the re-putty is done correctly, it should be good for 15-20 years...with annual checks and touch ups as needed.
A trailer sitting in the desert, or a very wet climate will need more attention than an average climate.
It can be prolonged by the addition of a small bead of sealer applied to the edge of the putty seal, but it should be done at the time of the re-putty, or the edge of the putty trimmed to expose a fresh surface, and the mating surfaces well cleaned with solvents, or else it is "just smearing caulk on everything".
When that is done, it doesn't adhere well, and water still creeps in, but now, with all the goop smeared everywhere, you can't find the leak (which causes some people to smear some more on...)

Congratulations, Kathy!
It looks like you got a real find and a good deal!
When do we get to see pictures of the inside:?

I'm going to wait until she gets to the Dam and then do a up close look at the inside. :)

Cathy,

If you're taking it to the dam gathering, surely there will be someone there that can look it over for you.
An inspection should only take about 5 minutes.

I think Gage already volunteered to inspect the inside.

Actually there is not much to the inside. What they did was paint everything white put in a new vinyl floor also white. new cushions, new uphostery (not new now) and matching curtians. I will be changing the curtians and might also make some slip covers for the cushions in a color that I like. I am not much for brown.

Tomorrow I am taking it down to RV business to get an estimate on removing a shelf and putting it up higher so I can put my ice box in.
