Well, back off to work for a month. Because of my motorcycle rebuild, I haven't done anymore. Hopefully when I get off, I'll be finished with most of it. Only time will tell.

I want to be finished by March. Right now, the deadline is getting tight.

Here are some high res pics I took with my DSLR.

Just looking at you last picture of the frame. I think you might want to look carefully at the placement of the tongue jack. It is so far forward that I am concerned you will damage it when turning and backing. I found out the hard way to leave more clearance.

I like your idea of an adjustable tongue, it can give you a lot of choices as far as weight distribution to get your tongue weight just where you want it.

Funny you said something about that. I have been actually thinking about switching it out with one like this:

Thanks. I will have a motorcycle hauler on the rear of the trailer sometimes. Plus with my long bed pickup, it's easier when the trailer is longer when I have to back it up.

Ordered the rest of the parts I needed to start the actual construction of the camper.

Epoxy filler:

Ordered these for the hatch.

Now I can start building. The outside will almost be completely sealed once I start. Other than bed liner. Which I will order soon.

James,
With the frame built and components purchased it's almost time for sawdust! Keep up the good work.
Take care,
Tom

Thanks Tom.

The only thing I can think of that I don't have is wood, the actual wires for wiring, bed liner, window a/c unit, tv mount, and a mattress.

I wanted to have everything I could think of ready that way when I start the construction, I don't have to wait on anything.

OK folks, I started this thread on Oct 22 of last year. Been pretty boring right? All you guys have seen is me collecting parts. Last time I was off work, everything came in I ordered. Today, I ordered the bed liner for the bottom, and I am waiting to see how that goes before I buy some for the rest of the camper. I also ordered the hatch seal, but Grant says it's on back order and will take a couple of weeks. No biggie.

I get off work next Tuesday, and will be going out of town for a week for my first trip up to the mountains. Then, I'll be back for some sawdust time. Also I saw a a/c on sale @ HD for $59.00. So I'll be picking that up.

I plan on doing a a/c like 2bits did. And I have been looking over Tom's SB build ( viewtopic.php?f=50&t=26988 ) to see how it's really supposed to be done.

He sets the bar high on how to build a camper.

I will basically have about a week and a half to make it waterproof. That means 80% done. Think I can do it? Maybe a week of 14-16 hour days of camper building, I can knock it out.

I love the weekender, but I think I love the Benroy more. I will make up my mind when I have the sheet of plywood on the saw horses.

James,

I feel pretty good that you can get your build done and waterproofed in the time that you said. One of the things that made my build take so long is that I mostly worked on it 2-3 hours at a time. When I was able to get a whole day to work on it, I could crank out the work. I'm not much of an organizer, but I found that if I wrote down what I wanted to do ahead of time and the materials that I needed to do them, things seemed to go faster. Also, there are some steps that require glue/epoxy to set, paint to dry, etc. When this happens, have another task ready so you can keep moving along.

Take care,
Tom

Well, I went the Benroy profile. I just love it too much. I built the template from paper, so I will have to make adjustments for the door. Also, I welded the fenders and taillight boxes on. I also painted the fenders and over spray on the tires flat black. I am going to box in, in between the rear fender and taillight boxes and fill it with expanded metal.

It's too dark for pics, but I took a break from wiring up the trailer. So tomorrow, I'll start on the floor, and should be finished with it sometime tomorrow.
