do not thaw them, the turkeys at least not completely though, the powder will burn their rear and then you'd have cooked turkey dinner. and I have had enough of that. talk to me in October and maybe :D

Jack, congratulations on reading the whole thing. there is a huge amount of useless info for the highly technical and rear retaining idiots but after reading you get the jist of what this discussion is really about.

GPW, and whoever else,
I am building and I have a question now which is burning. Why do the doors on almost all the teardrops set into the side? Why don't they go all the way down to the bottom of the side? I saw one, got in and it hurt the backs of my legs, just why do they have that cute little curve almost 4 inches off the bottom of the floor???? I am thinking of letting mine go all the way down.

Mary, I believe the lip on the door is to protect the mattress.

Woo Hoo!!! glad you came up with the idea, I think I am going to use gripper as my "glue" I hate gorilla glue and I will use titebondll and paint over the canvas. so We did it!! came up with our plan. The boat idea was cute too. I will build a boat next summer. I am so ready to get to the building of my box portion of my TD. I have gotten the trailer somewhat put together. I am waiting for some warm weather so I can take the parts outside. I have the trailer in four parts so I can lift them. it is in my family room but it has to be warm and dry outside so I can put the parts together. Someone asked me why parts, it is because I cant lift it. I have to have some help but two ladies can move it. I know you know what I mean. but I got it so it wont take me long. I have cut my wood and I will be putting the little frame together next week and will cut the spars for the inside and the outside of the doors. on Friday, the next couple of days I have another project. But glad you got your Plan!!

To my understanding, the doors have a 'lip' under them
so that there is some continuity in the sidewall structure
all the way from the front to rear. It helps adds rigidity, strength
and cohesiveness in the over-all sidewall structure, otherwise
the only thing connecting the wall aft of the door to the
wall in front of the door is the small thickness above the door.
It also provides a wider area for the door to seal against.
If you take the door opening to the floor all you have is the
floor thickness to seal against - if your floor is a sheet of
plywood bolted to the frame [a very valid and basic floor]
that probably would range from 3/8 to 3/4 inch thick at
the most. A sandwich built floor would be a bit thicker, but
a lip still makes it easier to build the wall and to do the door
frame and its sealing.

Ideally, the lip should be sized to come up about half-way
up the mattress thickness, then you don't have the lip
cutting into your legs problem.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

OK , that sounds right, I was wondering, How tall should it be ? my mattress is three inches. after reading all the forum I didn't even know how to look this up. When I sat on the mattress in the one, I saw, I got all upset. No I was not going to have it that tall, then I started wondering  why we have it to begin with. Ok I am off to the man who is making my windows. I have to give him the size. He wants a piece of paper the exact size. He is so funny he is soooooooo doubting I can read a tape measure. He is also very chauvinist. Older than me and thinks women can't do anything but cook. So I will use it to my advantage let him make the windows and be ever so grateful won't charge me much, Complement him a thousand times and tell him how wonderful he is, stroke his ego and how great his talent is and I will go home happy with some cheap windows. I have already checked on the prices with several other places and he gave me the cheapest price. He thinks he is making windows for a little play house. I couldn't explain the TD so he could understand, he kept saying it was a playhouse so I give up, I need windows for my playhouse. I will take it and let him see it Later. I have to get some plexiglass to take to him too. almost forgot about that too. If I had his shop and his raw materials and tools I could make them myself. His desk in the shop is his office and the shop is really old and lots of junk and no order. But I have seen his work. Yall have a great day!!!

The little man wasn't there today he was out delivering. Sorry to the men on here and GPW but This window maker is from a small country town and is of the old school. I did get a little angry when he kept calling my future TD a playhouse, after all the windows are "that small"? " Yes mam, You just bring your husband , he will have the measurements, I will be glad to make those windows", I replied"I am a widow"," Oh so sorry, well tell you what, you just cut out a paper the same size as the hole tape all the papers together till you get it the same size. " I told him I wanted it 16x8 to fit inside the opening and he said Where did you learn to read a tape measure?" he would be glad to make one that size but he knew it would not fit.I told him I would get my (imaginary friend) Mike to get the measurements.

Since he was not there today I think I will take him the doors minus the TD. Yes that is what I will do. If I want those windows That will work. I am so tired dealing with this type of male. and Yes there really are males who put women down out of the side of their mouths and treat them this way. I have gotten nothing but respect on here, even though KC didn't think I could pack a bearing. but he did appreciate it when I did. now if this unusual cold weather would go away I could finish building the Hf trailer it would be really nice. Please forgive my previous sarcasm about how to treat the window maker but please know if he didn't look down on me in his chauvinistic way I would not get so upset. I went into a gas company once and was with my husband and the guy wouldn't talk to me he kept talking at my husband and finally my husband said" I have no Idea what your talking about. pointing at me, she is the one who is building this she can do it so talk to her I cant build anything. and he walked away. the man got so flustered and tried talking but he did not know how to tell me to use the exixting 1/4 inch pipe and then use a a small to big connector to the 1/2 inch hose. He had to get help. We laughed about that for months. So again I am sorry every once in a while my attitude about this slips out out.

Mary C I'm sorry that you run into guys like that . I stopped going car shopping when my wife wants a new car because the sales people always want to talk to me and I don't even want the car . My wife does just fine on her own every time . Just remember we don't all think the way those two guys do .
