Under Way!!!!!!!

Postby rmcelroy » Mon Mar 27, 2006 2:35 pm

Well the trip to the asylum has started (pass the pickle juice). I took some days off last week and have an excellent start on my frame. Dang roofing tar sticks to this that and every other thing.

Most stunning acomplishment was measuring from adjustment screws on each end of the torsen to the end of the tounge proved to be exactly the same (after a little help from a bar clamp).

I'm very stoked right now and just hope the cabin ends up as nice as the frame. Its no work of art but for me I thought it was OK.

Panic set in however when I was looking at the generic Benroy plans. My tear is going to be a state park pavement only wus-so my cabin is going to be shore power only...... can I get a roof vent that runs on 110?

Thanks all for the light at the end of the tunnel-or is that a..........

Scott sells a 110 Fantastic Aire vent fan unit. It's a little more cost than a 12V unit, but he doesn't charge shipping and he's very helpful in getting the features to fit your trailer.

OK what the heck does this mean. I know it has something to do with Chip. I see it mentioned all the time, but still don't know where it originates from???

Don't worry, it took me a long time to figure that one out too. I thought it was code for something else. I thought "Pickle Juice" was another name for what we called "PJ" or "Party Juice" or "Trash Can". When I met the Florida group at Talbot Island I asked about it. Chip took me to the back of his trailer and I shared a shot with the man himself.

Endo, its sort of a tradition or curse as the case may be, but on my maiden voyage in my first trailer in Oct of 04 I introduced some new friends to a shot of Crown and a back of Pickle Juice,, the trailer got dubbed the Pickle Palace and the rest as they say is history, So since that first trip I have always had a supply of the crown and da pickle handy, Yea Yea I know it sounds bad, nasty, unpleasant etc etc but a couple hundred converte's cant be wrong,,, Heck not too long ago who would af thought you would be interested in building and sleeping in a camper the size of a refridgerator box,,,,

Dats my story and I am sticking to it!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the late reply to busy working and building. I was able to find a 110v vent at ppl motorhomes. I have my sidewalls, door and window cuts made. I have also them sealed along with the edges. Pics soon, I promise.

I havn't seen this mentioned-but assume its been ruled out, has anyone gutted a refrigerator/freezer to A/C thier tear? Living in the sunny south as I do, it would really extend my camping season to have some sort of A/C. But I'm really worried about any schemes I am coming up with using a small window unit.

There are still steps coming up that I havn't a clue how to solve but I am just getting done today what I have to get done today.

Thanks again for all you guys being here to help us rookies

Regie--forget it.

George can give you the technical reasons why this wouldn't work at all--I just know that it won't.

The subject has been discussed ad nauseam, and there's no getting around it. It's either an expensive, portable pet-cool unit…or a cheap window AC.
Here we go again!

I'm a day late and more than a dollar short but always ready to add my 2 cents.

I plan on trying the Crown and Pickle juice shots. This is my favorite Crown recipe

Crown and Peach

Equal amounts of Peach schnapps and Crown whiskey. Served icy cold. Ingrediants best kept in the freezer.

Well its been three weeks, progress so far has been good. Now I'm down to a lot of detail work. This past weekend I clearanced the walls for the galley lid and installed 1/2x1/2 channel with silicon hose pressed in for seals. I also framed the hatch. I found a deal last week on a petcool a/c- it is an original 2000 btu unit and was available as a scratch and dent model (I love the internet) for $299.

Being my first TD I have trouble seeing very far down the road so I'm trying hard not to screw up. I have a couple of very early pics in my album but will upload more tomorrow.

Thanks for all the info guys!!!
