Simple Maryland 5 wide build

Finished up the second side, with the exception of sanding the lat thin coat I applied to fill pin holes created by air bubbles.

Fiberglassed the bottom and that was easy thanks to a tip from a fellow board member (oldragbagger I believe). I used the foam roller to apply the epoxy. The near vertical surface was a real pain and the roller really helped to get the epoxy onto the cloth with out slopping it everywhere. It also was easy due to the fact that is the bottom and I'm not worried about finish.

Tonight I finished sanding the contour on the front and back corners and fiberglass taped them.

Got the tear in primer today, man do I have a lot of work to do. The primer shows a lot of the minor flaws that I couldn't see with the multicolored Faberge egg look.

Got the tear sanded out to 150grit and second coat of primer. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to sand out to 220grit and spray the third coat of primer.

I sure hope it turns out well. It almost seems a shame to paint it plain old white. If I don't like the color I can always repaint it.

I like it. I understand why you are using fiberglass. I am going the same route, however, I am coating the teardrop with bedliner, soooooo..... I don't have to do any sanding.

I never thought of bedliner. Should make for a durable surface. Does the bedliner provide any UV protection? Standard epoxy resin for fiberglass will break down from the UV.

Started painting, man am I going to have a lot of sanding to get all of the runs out. At least it is wet sanding so I don't have all that dust everywhere.

Got it painted. Had to do it twice, and I still have a few runs at the bottom front. Haven't decided to just leave the runs or try and wet sand them out?????? The rest of the exterior looks good though.

Maybe cut them down with a drip shaver (little device, a block plane, that holds a razor blade just so) and then wet sand?

Available at auto paint suppliers, or so I am told.
