Short camping trip this weekend

Postby Verna » Sat Mar 30, 2013 9:50 pm

Indycamper and I decided to take our teardrops to Brown County State Park outside of Nashville, IN this weekend for a one night camping outing. It only got down to around 31* Friday night, and it was at least 61* degrees today. Oh, how I've been looking forward to some warmer tempts

So, no pics of the food, but it was simple--red beans and rice with ham Friday night, oatmeal for breakfast Saturday and simple sandwiches for Saturday lunch. Sorry, no DO's were involved in the making of the weekend's meals

THEN, we got to "do Nashville"". After some sort of a coffee for Indycamper (I don't drink coffee so I'm really not sure what it was that she ordered) and a delicious hot chocolate for me at the Daily Grind, we went SHOPPING!!! First, a dog sling for Sunny Day. I found out Nashville is dog friendly. If you carry your dog, or have a carrier for the dog, then the dog is allowed in most stores. So, Sunny Day, the little Princess, now has a hot pink sling that puts her about my waist height and allows her to lay down in comfort. And, she got to spend time with me rather than staying in the Escape by herself.

Then to the different shops that we wanted to see. Even some wine tasting at the Brown County Winery. Yes, a few purchases. Yes, a lot of window shopping. Yes, a girl's day out and we enjoyed it.

Short weekend, but it was enjoyable. We enjoyed Nashville, a simple camping expedition, and just getting out after this long winter. It was just so pleasant fixing and eating my oatmeal outside while listening to the birds sing.

Life is Good

I think that Nashville is one of my favorite places to visit. Brown County is especially pretty in the fall, or spring, or summer.... :)
Sounds like you had a great time.

Verna,

Way to go !

Looks a bit cold for my cowardly Aussie soul.

We do overnighters (one night stands) now we have got into a Teardrop. Never would have contemplated it with the caravan (trailer) we had previously. Too much effort to make it worthwhile.

You have a far greater variety of country to visit in the USA as compared to what we have in Oz.

Thanks for the posts.

Take it easy

We had a great time! Until I stopped for a drink on the way home and found out I didn't have my purse! Quick phone calls to Verna and the last shop we were in yielded no purse, as did a trip back to the campground. By the time I got home 2 hours late I was ready to call the police and report it stolen. I was thrilled when the voice mail told me it had been found sitting in the parking lot in Nashville, rescued by a fellow nurse, and would I please call so that we could figure out how to get it back to me! The finder lives in Madison, IN, and will over-night it to me as soon as the post office opens on Monday. Now all I have to do is drive very carefully until my license arrives about Tuesday!

I really need to re-retire one of these days.

I know! I am eagerly awaiting Tuesday, when my purse should arrive.

Verna and Sharon glad we weren't the only ones out on a trip this weekend, ours was longer as we had good friday off! Verna that sling wouldn't work for our pooches @ 20 and 22lbs they would break your back !

Cliff
