Howdy from northern California

Postby Zarco » Thu Apr 04, 2013 8:56 pm

I've always admired tear drop trailers and thought some day I'd either build one or find an
old one to restore. Well the time has come, and I will be building one from scratch. One of
the joys of being in northern California is all of the great places to see. Especally up and down the
coast. Hope to be doing that in the not too distant future with my 1970 MGB-GT & tear drop!

Sooooo many questions!

Welcome to the Forum Steve
Nice to have another car guy on board.
Your TV is a classic and deserves to be towing a cool RV like a TD.
There is some great info to be had here!!
Are you going to build a "Traditional" TD or will you step outside the box a little and build a "Non Traditional" that will be unique to your TV?
Check out my Album if you would like to look at an example of a "Non Taditional" TD with all of the same features found in original TD'S.

Welcome, Zarco. If you can, be sure to visit the 20th annual Dam Gathering on Shasta Lake, Antlers, CA, May 01-05. There will be hundreds of teardrops and tiny trailers to look at and lots of ideas to gather from the builders and owners.

Welcome !!! after thinking and reading the forum since I Have a small older TV I decided to go foamie. You might want to give the foamie section a read too before your make any decisions. But you can build it. good luck and will watch for your progress.

I second Sharon's suggestion!
You might see something that would be perfect for your needs, and could solidify your direction!
Remember there is usually no need to reinvent the wheel.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. Where in Northern California are you? It is an awfully large area even when we in the "real" Northern Ca consider San Francisco to be in Central CA!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm about 60 miles north of the Golden Gate brige near
Santa Rosa. Right now I'm looking at everything, and have no ideas set in stone. My only
goal is to build something that is functional and looks nice. Leaning towards designs that
are low to match the MG. I did build a tiny house many years ago and really enjoyed that
project so this is really just a follow up to that.

This is a great site with lots to explore!
