2013 Gatherings..

Postby pitbullluvajrod » Fri Apr 05, 2013 5:52 pm

Would like to start off by saying.. good day to y'all. The replies I've received are very helpful, in my planning, thank y'all very much for that. Today's question is, will there be any gatherings in or near Maryland or the Chesapeake Bay area? If so, I would like some info as to where and when. Again, thanks a lot for your thoughts and opinions. Really enjoy the forum.

I don't have you an answer but if there is a posted gathering anywhere in North America it will be on Grant's Destinations Page.

Go to the Tearjerkers site, http://www.tearjerkers.net, the Chesapeake Bay chapter and look at the upcoming events. There will be a group camping at the Shore I'm Irish festival on the eastern shore next month, a group is going to Assateague Island in June, but I checked a few days ago and they were all booked up, and I know there is more in the works. You will definitely want to belong to this group. They are really a fun bunch of people, very warm and welcoming.

Thank you, Ms Becky. I've done a lot of reading on the TearJerkers groups. I'm gonna be building a cargo conversion before I start my teardrop journey. Are conversions accepted in the TearJerker community? I see your in Essex, I have family out there. I myself live around the Best Western truck stop on O'Donnell St.. I would love to be ready to pull mine down the road this season, but don't see it happening. I would still like to join y'all at a gathering, meet and learn what I can.

You will see every kind of trailer at the Tearjerker gatherings, and tent campers as well. They are a "camping group with a teardrop problem." Two years ago when this whole teardrop thing was just a fanciful idea in my little head they invited me to join them at a gathering at Elk Neck park. We didn't have anything to camp in at the time so we just went over for a day and was their guest for a huge wonderful pot luck dinner. We looked at all the trailers and spent the day talking and getting to know some of the people. After dinner they presented awards for various things and, knowing in advance we were coming, they had made up an award for me for the "most promising DIY." Folks just don't get any nicer than these. They have been cheering me along every step of my build.

I'm usually outside working on my trailer on the weekends. If you ever want to swing by and have a look you are very welcome to do so. Let me know and I will PM you my address. I'm out on Rocky Point.

Good luck on your trailer. And, if it were me, I wouldn't worry about it being finished. If there's a gathering and you want to attend, throw a blow up mattress in the trailer and join in the fun. I started making sawdust on my build in September 2011 and we are finally going to be able to enjoy it this year. Hope to run into you out there.
