The heck with the camper (not really). That's a cool custom car! It appears to be sectioned!

Thanks for sharing.

KC, here's the same car on the cover of Hot Rod in 1954.

So, it's June 15th - I haven't worked on this thing since I started to polish the exterior a few months ago. Boy do I need to get back on this thing.

I'm currently sitting in the trailer, with the fantastic fan running, charging the trailer battery while, and brewing a batch of beer. I'm just trying to get back into this build.

I think I'm nearly ready. I just need to figure out what to do with the cabinet doors. Doug had a good idea for the galley. He suggested using aluminium inserts in the doors. I'm not sure how that would look I think I'm going to start with something simple, maybe just cherry and birch doors. We'll see.

I know they said 'slow and steady wins the race', but this is silly.

Thanks for sticking with me,
Ted

More building and less beer.

Easy to say and hard to do! :o

You have to want it, and even then maybe you won't reach your goal. Ask my how I know. Second annual deadline is approaching fast for me! :NC :frightened:

Ted- At least you're thinking about it! With field work, hauling the spoils from pond digging, making next winter's firewood, and oh, that pesky job thing,
I feel like I'm miles from looking at my teardrop! The toys will have to be patient.

I saw an older Kelly trailer on the side of the road today. t was pretty rough, so I stopped and left a note on it.

The owner said he was going to scrap it so I offered to purchase a few items off of it.

Paid $10.00 each. I figure they would look good in the galley area. :)

Pretty neat!

Hey Steve!

Figured out the tail light issue. So they worked fine with my wife's Honda. The BMW required that I 'ground' the trailer frame. Once I did that - bingo! Now that the BMW is in the scrap yard, I'll need to figure out what the new tow vehicle needs.

I sent the photos you took of your Benroy to my painter. Thanks for supplying those. They came in really handy. My painter is going to give me an estimate for the paint next week. If he can get it in, I'll take the trailer out to him before the 4th. Once I get the exterior painted I'll be really motivated to wrap up the interior. I can't decide if I should leave my old Coleman cooler in the original red/scuffed up state or if I should take it to the painter and have him clean it up and paint it the same color as the trailer.

Just sent the wife and kids off to Tahoe for the fourth of July madness. I'll join them in a day or three. I needed to "Work" so I was able to stay back. Don't get me wrong. I love and appreciate every cell in my wife and children, but I just needed a bit of down time before heading to the lake.

So, on this fine day, the temperatures are said to be topping out around 103. I may venture into town to purchase a new thermostat for the house. Although part of me wants to get out in the garage before it gets to hot.

Maybe today will be the day I actually start working on the trailer again. Maybe...

Crud it was so dang hot this weekend. We took the teardrop trailer to Half Moon Bay State park for the weekend after taking Friday off. I had earlier booked us a site right on the beach...

very nice camp site and the weather was in the low 70's, sure beats being out in the 100's plus in San Ramon.

Of course had a lot of walk ups on the teardrop.

Did you get to work on the Benroy?

Dave,

Your trip sounds like it was a great time. Unfortunately I didn't get to work on the trailer at all. I did manage to take a few steps towards getting the new tow vehicle wired up for the trailer lights. My goal is to never have to worry about those darn lights again. :)

The darn painter never called me back. I'm guessing he didn't want the burden of working this week/weekend. It's been too darn hot to paint anyway.

My motivation is back. I'm feeling pretty stoked about getting back on it. My mind is planning what to do in the galley, so that's a great first step!

I'll need to order some hinges for all the cabinet doors. I think I need 20 hinges, 10 'rooster catches' and at least as many vintage handles. I think I'm going to source an old vintage 'ice box' handle for the sliding ice chest drawer.

The gears are turning...
