Small AC Generator

after reading through the electrical section, I have to admire some of the wiring and engineering that has been done on some of the units, great work! For the most part though in my view, a very basic AC set-up and a small inverter type ac generator of around 1200 watts supplies all the electrical needs[battery lights use rechargable battery]. Solar is great but only if used all the time, and you need everything able to use DC or an inverter for AC. I always use a GFCI power cord starting at generator, keeps it all safe regardless the weather, etc.

We have a GFI as part of the tear electrical system which protects the whole system making an additional GFI redundant. My understanding is that there is the potential for conflict between two or more GFI.
My decision to use solar other than for AC is based on just how much I hate hearing a generator in an otherwise quiet camping spot. An alternative is using your TV (tow vehicle) to keep trailer battery charged. I know ours, a 6 cyl Subaru use .38 gal per hr at idle.

I know I have a charge line off of my car to the trailer as well...both on my jeep diesel and 6cyl outback....idling a diesel for any length of time isn't all that great if a idea...

I never did a fuel burn test at idle...I am surprised its that low...

Te wire that comes off the car/jeep is pretty small, what's the rate if charge? It can't me more than just a couple amps....

What I have is 10ga as the charge line from TV to trailer, but I also wired up a set of 6ga jumper cables with Anderson Power Pole connectors to the battery and the alternator puts out a lot of amps. One thing I love about the Ultragauge is that it gives me an accurate set of readings for fuel consumption engine temp and a great more information.
