After Lurking for a while i think i need to say hi. Im sure i have read just about every post on the site! Now that im about to be paroled (retired) from the Air Force im ready to get started.

I have a 5'X10' woodie Scad-A-Bout in my head. Its gonna be a little higher off the ground to get me in and out of the Arkansas woods with a canoe rack on the top. Im also kicking around having the same rims and tires as my Dodge so i can use the truck spare if needed.

Welcome to the forums Marty

Hey thanks for Serving. 20Y, 1M, 7D, my self in and AF. Not like anyone was counting but me. Where in
Arkansas. My Parents retired out there near clarksville.

A Scad-A-Bout should look good that sized. They appear to be a bit longer than the early teardrop, Benroys,
and other designs. Enjoy your design and build. keep us posted.

Hi Marty, welcome to the forum......finally. Good for you, planning on bulding a Woody. Sounds like you know what you want it to look like, as well as your plan to make it a bit taller. You probably know that there are a bunch of folks here that will help you with any questions, as your build progresses. Building with wood, is right down my alley, but finishing it with varnish means that you will have to sand and re-coat it just about every year, if you don't want it to turn into corn flakes in the rain. Mine is 10 years old, and seems to be holding up very well. Good luck on your build, and I want to thank you for your service, from an old 1952 Army draftee.
:) Roly, the So Calif woody guy.
