Our Splendid Getaway in Texas

Postby nosnikta » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:17 pm

Greeting from Splendora Texas. The hubby & I are in the middle of a oversized custom woody build. We have had fun building but can't wait to get rolling in it! What do you guys think? We are at the epoxy stage, w/trim & other details still to go. This website has been invaluable to us for research. Thank you guys so much!

Hello Tex, for lack of a better name. Looks like you have got a real project going there. Good for you, making room for the little ones, I am sure they will remember their camping days forever. Oh, I pity you, having to go through the epoxy stage, with all of the mixing, smearing, spilling, sanding and sealing. I hate the itch involved on my skin. Good for you, building a woody, or so it appears, and I want to invite you to make your maiden voyage to sunny So Calif, and enjoy a Dutch Oven pot roast with me. There is plenty of room in my 80 ft long driveway, and it's cheap, cheap, cheap. Good luck on the rest of your build, I am sure you will enjoy your efforts for years to come. Welcome to the Forum.
:D  Roly, the li'l ol' woody guy in So Calif...

Well epoxy done...(mostly. some trim still needs it, hence the lighter color) But we are getting there! About 6 weeks til our family vacation so that's the official deadline. A woody was the only choice in our opinion. We looked at aluminum but the woody, when complete will be gorgeous. 8)

Welcome to the forum. Your timing is perfect to be finished in time to go to LCG in October. Check out the South Central section, the spaces are already beginning to fill up. A fun time with campers that love teardrops.

Really beautiful build!

I'm curious why you only added one door if there will be 2 adults and 2 kids going in and out? Seems like 2 doors would be more convenient.

To be honest, we never considered a second door. Don't know why we didn't, but I think it will be just what we need.
