Roof vent installation

Postby Dirke » Sun Apr 21, 2013 7:09 am

Does anyone know what size opening should be made to install a standard roof vent? I don't have a vent yet but am building my frame and need to know so I can place it where I want it.

Thanks

You can check the various manufacturers, but I believe th opening is 14" square, it is a standard opening.

14" will sometimes work, but 14-1/4" is best (and the standard) for the rough opening.

If you are using the Fantastic Fan, don't forget to leave about 1" extra for the wiring that comes out of the side. That still leaves plenty of room to screw down your flanges.

I framed mine at 14-1/4". Mine is just a basic roof vent.
