It's nice to see that they're finally shipping product. I'd begun to wonder if it was just going to be vapor ware.
My concern with it though is how long do you have to keep it burning in order to charge your device? At 2 the watts continuous claimed it would take about an hour to charge my iPod and around 2 for an iPad.

The only problem with the one posted above is that it runs off of AA batteries and also doesn't charge devices. Even if it didn't charge things, it still would be nice if it could charge it's own fan with the energy from the heat like the biolite does.

cdfnchico just bought one and say that this thing converts the energy from just a few burning twigs will charge their cell phones, etc.

The only problem I see with it, at least for backpacking is a lot of areas don't allow fires, due to air stagnation in some places, and lack of "fuel" at higher elevations.

Yikes that is expensive. If I was to go back packing again I would just take my Optimus 80 stove. Or take food that doesn't need to be cooked. A person can live for a few days without hot coffee. Trust me.

yea, but randy that drift wood stove is so easy to build get on there website and with the deminsons they give you can grab some
square tubing and some light angle iron and weld that puppy up in no time!

Probably but I think it would be rather heavy and that kind of burning out in the back areas when it is dry has me worried. I will stick with my old Optimas 80 stove and a little container of camp fuel. Let the major part of my pollution stay around the refinery.



But that stove might be ok in campground grounds. But all the fuel is gone. Never happy are we?
