I personally love the sweet lines of my little Benroy, and although I did not really stick to the plans that much (does anybody really??) they were a great place to start.

I know that a number of folks have done life size mockups using cardboard. Considerations as to what you have have or would would like to have or as we did have it ALL... are part of the equation. I know my wife loves the appearance and "cute" factor of a CampInn but would not trade the space and convenience of our Grasshopper design.

Oh I forgot . I live in Louisiana. Near new Orleans. I have not seen any gatherings around here. But I really have not looked very hard.
I think I am going to dray up the plans for the round one. The more I looks at it the more I like it. I guess I will post on the build journal?? Dont know .

I'm not going to be much help on the profile/design selection. I like them all. I guess if I had to choose, I would say you might want to consider the Benroy design. It has classic lines, is very space-efficient, and on the balance should be easier to build than some of the more "curvy" designs. Plus, in the design resources tab at the top, there is a pretty complete instruction manual.

You mentioned gatherings. It's quite a distance from NOLA, but the LCG gathering at Lake Bisteneau southwest of Shreveport/Bossier City is the "big daddy" event of the South Central section. It occurs the last weekend in October. Please plan on attending even if you don't have your teardrop built by then.

Don't be afraid of pulling out paper and pencil or your favorite drawing software and playing with profiles until you find one you like. Some of the neatest trailers are one of a kind. I've been planning for quite a while because time and funding hasn't permitted actual parts yet, and my "perfect" design has changed several times. I started with the idea of a oversized cub, that morphed into an "elliptical" benroy (no simple circles for me), and now I'm leaning toward a modified Grumman 2. Personally I'm not a fan of angles, I guess the curves call my name.

You can do whatever you want. Don't be afraid to design your own. Many do.

I'm wanting a Tiny Travel Trailer (TTT) that is both large enough to stand up in, quick to setup and take down, easy enough to tow, and can be used at a hard sided only campgrounds. This is a third design sketch of a hard sided pop-up I'm working on. It initially started out as a proof of concept to make an under 48" tall TTT. My current design is a bit longer, and a slight bit different in shape, but the major parts are similar. While my current design is still a three tier pop-up, I'm again more seriously considering a two tier design. The increased interior height of the bottom tier has it's advantages.

A good thing to do before you decide on design is to assess your tool inventory/woodworking skills/budget. Think about how much time you have available to build and how much money you have to spend. Would you rather have a complex, partially built project taking up half the garage for many, many months or a simple design ready to roll for summer camping? Either of those scenarios can be perfect for you, depending.

I am great at beginning projects but find it difficult to finish them up. Hoping this summer after retirement in July that I'll be ready to begin a very simple teardrop (no galley), so I can finish up before losing momentum and we can use it for a road trip (TX, NM, CO, UT, AZ) in late September/early October. I'm looking at various designs/profiles and each has its own appeal! It is fun to take each design and pretend for a bit that it is "the one!" and then think about another. The hardest part for me will be to think through the wiring. I understand basic carpentry, but don't know squat about wiring.

I built a benroy style, now I wish I'd built a raindrop style, since I don't see myself building another trailer in my life, I am looking at modifying my existing TD, much easier if I'd done the raindrop to start with.
