Old Camper articles in Popular Science

Postby fartblossom » Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:56 pm

I am constantly browsing old popsci magazines on google books and reminiscing. Came across a series of camping/do it yourself articles in this one issue from 1963. Thought you guys might get a kick out of it.

One of those old tent campers was the only kind of vacation we ever had as kids. Many fond memories of the Smokey Mountains.

Very timely post. I'm working on a SketchUp drawing of a tent trailer right now.

I just picked up an 1961 Apache Eagle (Vesley Mfg.) a few weeks ago. I have yet to camp in it though, because I'm spoiled by my teardrop.

Our first rv after sleeping on the ground for years was an used Apache. It was basically just a
tent on wheels.. towed it from Florida to Canada and parts between. Great fun with our young family.

I also enjoy reading the old rv articles in Popular Mechanics.

If you keep scrolling down, after the tent trailers, there are articles on converting an econoline, converting a VWbus, making your own Pickup slide-in, and more. Old popsci's rule.
