Bonding aluminum trim to painted tear

I have a canvas coated and painted teardrop that I want to apply aluminum trim to (just around the bottom). I'd like to not use any screws, rivets or nails. What do you think is the best caulk/adhesive to attach aluminum to a painted surface?

Since you want to bond to paint, this probably isn't exactly what you want to hear. However, please recognize that, unless you put in a few screws, your bond will only be as good as the paint that is bonded to the tear. If the paint lets loose, so will your trim. If I were using screws (...I would...), I would drill the screw hole through the trim and into the wood; put a dab of RV silicone gel in the drilled hole and screw on the trim while the gel is still wet. Wipe off the excess silicone that squeezes out around the screw immediately with some mineral spirits on a cloth or paper towel.

If you sanded the paint down it might help, but in the end they are correct, only as strong as the paint itself. Maybe try a small test area and see if you can pull it off? I tried this first when testing what glue was best for my aluminium to plywood.
