I know Randy! My first camping adventure will be bringing it back from Fred in Michigan! I haven't ever driven east of WA, OR, or CA before so it'll all be new to me.

Thanks Dan! Fred needs to take a bow :applause:

Thanks RD, I do too. Fred has made it look so easy but I know had I tried to do this on my own it would have taken me at least a year :?

If you pass through Idaho, remember that despite what you may have heard we do not bite. Our roads are reasonably repaired. The governor makes sure of that so Simplot can pay him off.

But,,, but,,, but...

Where in Michigan?

Anyways,
- From anywhere in MI, head north.
- Pictured Rocks National Park in the UP of Michigan.
- Various parks and waterfalls across the UP of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin. Apostle Islands is a really good one. Lots of campgrounds all throughout the area.
- Aquarium in Duluth, Minnesota.
- North Shore of Lake Superior. Waterfalls along the shore. Mining museum. One time when I was returning from up along the North Shore I got stuck behind a bed from a mining truck. It was being supported on the back of two flat bed semi trailers driving down the road about 10 feet apart.
- International Falls area of Minnesota.
- Itasca State Park, Minnesota. The headwaters of the Mississippi River is in the park.
- Fargo, North Dakota just because.
- Badlands National Park, South Dakota. Just before the Badlands is a Minuteman Silo that you can tour.
- Stop at the tourist trap of Wall, SD. You'll have been seeing billboards for it for many miles all around.
- Black Hills of South Dakota. Much to do in the area. Do drive the Pinnacles Highway.
- Leave the Black Hills area via US 16, and you will pass by a hand dug oil well. The gift shop is no longer open, but it at least still has a historical marker. Otherwise leave the Black Hills going North and visit Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming.
- Take US 14 and US 14A across the Big Horn mountain range in Wyoming. As you drive up into the mountains and through them, stop at some of the pullouts and look at the vistas. Don't forget to stop off at the Medicine Wheel (GPS: 44.826162, -107.921578). As you are walking from the parking lot to the Medicine Wheel, look at the vistas east and west. Use low gear when descending on 14A on the west side of the mountains. There are some steep grades and a beautiful canyon your drive along.
- Cowboy Museum in Cody, Wyoming.
- Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Best information for what to do in the area: http://forums.yellowstone.net/
- Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming.
- Teton Pass over to Idaho. See, I got you into Idaho....
- American Falls, Idaho. At this point you are in a river valley carved out by the volcanic hot spot that made and powers Yellowstone NP.

I'll let others fill in spots to see west of American Falls.

The best part is if you blog about it, it's tax all deductible... The most important part for tax reasons is you are making progress towards your destination each day, but if the park is your destination.... :D

The spot to see west of American Falls is.................................... ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8)

Then the next thing west to see is the Snake River Canyon. That sneaks up on a person and jumps out at you. Use to have a bridge over it built in the early 1900s. I have a few stories about it. Then north of me is the Craters of the Moon Monument. I go about 30 miles north of my house and camp in the southern part of it. No ranger station, No entrance fees, No camping fees.

May 2012 trip

Also no paved roads and damn few gravel roads. Some made of rock as you can see.

Thanks for the travel tips Bogo and Randy. Still not sure how long of a trip I want to take because I have another long one scheduled later this summer.

More new pictures of the keyless RV Lock door lock system and a description of why I chose it are on the blog at the build link below:

I also found a cute pair of vintage metal folding chairs I'm going to paint bright yellow or the aqua blue to set up alongside the trailer when I want to relax and have company:

All of the details about the trailer build are here on my blog: http://theflirtyguide.blogspot.com/search/label/Trailer%20-%20Build

Had to start a second category on my blog to cover gear and decorating posts: http://theflirtyguide.blogspot.com/search/label/Trailer%20-%20Gear

Hi Stacie,

The trailer is coming along nicely !

I noticed on your blog, you were running into a catch22
about licensing it. Why not do the Maine non-resident
thing as this link shows ?

viewtopic.php?f=38&t=43004

It seems a reasonable way to go about it, especially for
the out-of-the-ordinary situation concerning it that you find
yourself in.

Just for your consideration...

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Thanks for the suggestion Norm! That's good information to know. Fred was able to talk to the MI DMV and found out I can register the trailer when I get there. On my end I talked to the CA DMV and learned I have to do the transfer to CA within 30 days of returning home.

Another update! There are pics of my almost done trailer and of The Fancy Farmgirl's trailer that inspired met to want one in today's blog post: http://theflirtyguide.blogspot.com/2013 ... -done.html

Thanks Sharon!

I was surprised by how much smaller it looks out of Fred's garage. Makes me love it even more. This much!

I know, I am. Lucky me! Had I gone through with trying to build this trailer myself I would have seen everyone at the Dam Gathering in 2017. LOL. As it is I'll be able to attend next year

The overhead shelves are in! With the magic of Photoshop I mocked up the aqua color I'll be painting them when I get the trailer back to San Jose.
