Thomas, I like your idea with the tarp housing at the back end. Good for showers and privacy in cooking from a gallery. Can you post pictures on how you assembled it?

The back cover I got on ebay called Add a Cabanna, It was for SUV hatch. I used 3/4 pvc frame and some tent poles. I will take a picture of frame. The side tent is a Kelty Carport tent.

Thomas,

I too would like to see the fame you made for the "Add a Cabanna." That's a nice touch to a CT conversion.

I have one of the Kelty Carports, when I got I thought it was the business, but I've hardly ever used it because it's a chore to put together, and if there is the slightest breeze it turns into a giant kite.

I think I can make a pretty good shelter by tying the barn doors straight out from the back, and tying a big tarp over the top and back. Since my galley is back there, it ought to be pretty nice for rough weather.

I use water bags to weight down the corner of the Kelty carport. Never had problems with the wind. As far as set up, put together inward, then pop it out. utube has videos. once you learn the trick, it is easy.

I am working on a slide out rear extension, light weight, secure with a entrance door. Turning 5x8 to 5x15, all packable including toilet and shower.
I am working out the stablizing details. Will post as soon as I have a working concept.

I have given this option (using barn doors of the CC) consideration also. Still trying to design such a setup in my head.

Me too on the "...look forward to seeing this!". I will most likely be going with a 6x12 (am going to look at Interstate trailers 3 hours north of me in a few weeks) so this slide out idea is very intriguing. I met a hunter at camp last year who did this but would not offer to show it to me. I guess he was concerned about having someone he did not know look inside his camp trailer.
