Remodeling a 1947 Tourette Teardrop: Fuse Panel Placement

Postby burlesot » Sun May 05, 2013 7:07 pm

Hello.

I'm making good progress on my teardrop restoration/remodeling project. Here is the blog where all the details are: http://toddsteardropblog.blogspot.com/2013/05/galley-work.html

I am at the spot where I am about to begin putting in my electrical.

I have decided to put the battery in the galley, under the cabinet on the right side. I am planning to install a West Marine fuse panel with six inputs. It is a nice panel in that there are six lit power fuses. I am contemplating putting the fuse panel on the lower right cabinet door so that it is visible. I am also considering putting the fuse panel inside the cabinet. Obviously in this case, it would not be visible without opening the door.

What advice would you give me on this decision?

Thank you,
Todd

I'd hide it, just for a cleaner galley area. If a fuse is blown...you'll know it soon enough. If it's wired correctly, wires are protected and you don't overload a circuit they don't blow. I've never replaced a fuse in any of my tears once they are finished and out on the road. If you dig the look of a "control" panel, make it visible. Doug
