Roof Vent for Small Teardrop

Postby nomad » Wed May 08, 2013 11:07 pm

I am looking for a roof vent for my small TD trailer, and so far this is the one that I think will work for my trailer.

http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-v ... of-fan.htm

The one that I like is this one: MAXXAIR POWERED ROOF VENT W/THERMOSTAT - 10 SPEED W/REVERSE

and also this one: http://www.rvsupplyparts.com/index.php? ... ail&p=7525

Anyone has used these vents, please give me the good and the bad sides of them.
Thanks
Nick

Both are probably overkill for a small tear, unless you like the tornado wind speed
Our tear is one of the largest here and two three speed computer case fans are more than enough.

I bought the three speed reversing Fantastic Fan and have been very pleased with it. Very quiet with lots of power if you need it. One thing to think about is the fact that your vent cover will allow rain to enter any time it is open. That can be a hot, humid situation in very warm weather. I bought the Ultrabreeze cover for mine and it works like a charm. I leave the cover on all the time, but some people take them off when not in use and store in the TV (they come off easily with four quick connect pins). This is also good to have in colder weather as it allows ventilation without concern over wind or rain by simply raising the cover. These small tears can be so airtight that they cause problems with lack of oxygen if closed up completely.

I have this small one:

It is only a single speed but you can feel a breeze coming in the windows when it is on.

I'm going to use the Van-air also. Looks appropriately sized for a small teardrop.

I have used this one a couple of times too.

It works well and is easy to install.

We have the same fantastic fan but with the rain sensor.
On numerous occasions, while sleeping, we have left it open when it's raining.
We keep it open about 1" to 2" while sleeping.
Not one drop has entered the teardrop.
I don't feel the need for any optional attachments.

Thanks much for all the info and advices!
I have to agree that the 14x14 fan is probably too big for my little trailer. Even though, the small rounded one looked good, but I have a question for those who have used it, can the vent be opened and running when it is raining?
Thanks for any info

I've have had mine open and running during severe thunderstorms. It does a good job of keeping the rain out. It was open last weekend at our last gathering and it rained all Friday night and half of Saturday. I had the vent open and off and not a drop of water in the tear.

Thanks so much for the info. :D
I think I will install at least one on my trailer; even though, I am still designing a rack to carry a 40lb A/c. :(
I also should have asked about information of a small vent that have mesh screen. :)
Any info will be appreciated.

The Vanair has a mesh screen inside to keep the bugs out. Is that what you are concerned about?

No, I am looking for the no-power vent that has a mesh screen. I guess if they don't make it, then I have to add a screen by myself, as I don't want bugs can enter through these holes. :)

I used a 9x9 vent for my TD, I liked the scale better. They sell them on ebuy for less, but here's an example:
