For the moment we have an 8' El Toro rowing/sailing dinghy but we are planning to build two Wee Lassie cedar strip canoes to take with us as soon as I get some house projects squared away.

I have a Sevylor Colorado inflatable canoe we have gotten a lot of good use of. It fits 2 of us plus the dog, takes less than 10 minutes to setup, and can fit in the trunk.

I figure that paired with the teardrop it will be an unstoppable combination!

I used a Sit On Top for light coastal and river use

UK Made one called a FatYak Kaafu
Likes to think he's Norm from New Yankee Workshop

In reality, hes a average DIY'er with a 18x16ft Wooden shed

We have a 15' canoe and two kayaks. My wife doesn't go camping or floating, so it's just my son & me. There are lots of float rivers and streams in MIssouri, mostly Class I & II water, easy floats, but really scenic. What I have found though is that is about as cheap to just rent from an outfitter and not hassle with taking your own boats and then paying for a portage to transport you to or from the put in/ take out point. The outfitters charge almost as much to portage your canoe as it does to rent one. If you can find someone local to transport you rather than going through an outfitter it is usually cheaper. Fifteen to twenty river miles per day is not uncommon. Depending on river access, the ground milage for put in/take out can sometimes be considerable, although on the Gasconade River there is one section that you can float 15 miles and take out only two miles overland from where you put in. We usually take the boats when we are camping on a lake where we can paddle around for fun or fish and not really worry about having to transport the boats to put in/ take out spots.

I don't think it is camping unless boating is also involved, last summer we took these two boats 97130 the one on the van is my daughters boat, the one on the trailer I built for myself, but found it too big and too heavy. so right now I'm building two smaller boats for the wife and I http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 5996123a8a at less than $60 each they're fun and it is even more fun to say I built them myself.
