Well I know you guys have been following this TWILIGHT ZONE drama with real excitement for the past 2 years :D :D

What a nice family of 8 , borrowed $1,400,000 million $$$$ from the back in 2005 on 2 duplexes that were free & clear
should i whisper LOAN FRAUD !!
nobody knows were the money went, gutted the duplex next door - lost it in foreclosure 2 years ago.
Made no payments for 5 years , turned the 2nd duplex into to a Haiti SLUM PROJECT....
2 years ago started selling drugs - 100,000+ deals since then - 300 ft from Elementary school....
they break into to neighbors houses & sell their sh** in their weekly yard flee market.
added 2nd story illegal addition, dump sewage on the neighbors property, stole $10k in utilities
have their power & gas disconnected, 30 homeless live in the house, besides the 8 owners,
300 per day stop by to bring stolen junk & pick up drugs

YOU SAY it cant happen in Silicon Valley :D :D :D
where crappie houses cost $600,000+ --- I say your wrong :D :D :D

These people found the sweet spot....
The Bank does not want house because they would get fined $10k per day for owning this junk
San Jose City - NO WANT the house - they need to spend $200,000 to demo toxic waste dump :D :D :D

2 Years & 1,000 citizen complaint calls.....
finally the city files 55 criminal indictments against the 8 owners

So the drama keeps on giving stay tuned

Hope the suns reflection off the diamond plate doesn't blind ya in the mirror. That would be rather rude at the most inopportune time.
Dadgum it! I cut that board 5 times and it's still too short!

I agree about that diamond plate on the front. My V-nose has a wide strip of polished aluminum down the front of the V until it hits the lower diamond plate and it can get very annoying in sunlight and even at night from oncoming headlights.

Hey Hey Bruce What's up

All these guys are getting mad a my extra sunshine from too much diamond plate :x :x
Good thing the space shuttle is not flying or my roof panels would get heat too :D

I have decided to make 3 different smaller systems with all those panels 2,250 watt panels
below I ordered this charge controller for just one 255 watt panel (( to test different stuff ))
and a morning star 300 watt pure sine inverter :D :D
total i'll have 3 of those 300 watts each & one other 1500 MSW inverter

The plan is coming together... sent away for the paper work for Maine Trailer Registration
will see what that looks like

OTTCT, Howdy;

Question ... With that big Solar Collector on the front, how effective will it be when you end up facing North
or some other not so solar friendly direction?

Hey hank

I got a jack that comes down & can swivel the trailer 360 deg :D :D :D :D :D :D

No seriously , I will have 1275 on the roof , 255 on the front and 410 on each side.
The panels are now dirt cheap ....... So I can glue them all around.
Maybe some for the back door will still come - they have 180 deg auto swing then

Only the batteries still cost alarm & a leg.

No heat coming from here, just don't want you to be blinded while driving.

I think I'll be safe , by the time I'll get done it will be dull :-(

I found this here is one of the tntt members

Image

As a plan B maybe I can try some white car wrap over the
Panel should it become a problem.
With a little heat it should work.

On the other hand with the cover down , might get enough reflection
To pick up some extra rays in case I need more power

I should get charge controller and inverter next week
Then I can start testing.
I might be able to get 8-10 hours sun per day
Facing the right direction.
Time will tell

That's the controller that I have, its a little small for a guy like you with a 15 amp max but it's a great controller. You'll like the SureSine inverter, it has an ultra low overhead draw, a perfect sine wave output and no fan. Morningstar has a meter that works for both of them, so you could use the meter to monitor current draw from the inverter at night and solar harvest from the solar panel during the day.

Meter Linky

Did you get a battery monitor yet? If not, you need one of these:

Trimetric

I have my panels split across two controllers. I added another 200 watts of panels and I had a Sunsaver 10 sitting in the garage so I have 220 watts on the Sunsaver MPPT and 200 watts on the Sunsaver 10. I think it helps with shading to split the panels across two controllers.

Hey Bruce

I sorta plan to do my setup something like this ...

1.) front 255 watt panel - 15 amp charge controller & 300 morning star inverter. 150-200 AH battery
this will supply the LED exterior trailer lights & the water heater, stereo & maybe outlets to charge phone etc.
P.S. I also put a 7 way plug on the trailer - so I can operate all trailer lights without Tow vehicle :D :D :D :D

2.) top 255 watt panel - 15 amp charge controller & 300 morning star inverter. 150-200 AH battery
this will supply my 60Q - ARB fridge & maybe outlets to charge phone etc.

3.) 1020 watt panels - 80 amp Outback charge controller & 300 morning star inverter. 400 AH battery
this will supply the TV, fans, DVR & maybe outlets to charge phone etc.

4.) Then I have the 1500 watt MSW inverter for running the 500 watt A/C unit, it will also function as a back up battery charger
and to equalize the 2 sets batteries if needed. This unit runs off shore power or also Gen set

5.) The 2 side wall panels 210 x 2 or ( 420 watts per side ) will only be used to give extra boost to 400 AH batteries if needed to run the A/C
late afternoon or early mornings - due to being wall mounted.
im still thinking about what size charge controller for 420 watts i'll use - "AS" only one side of panels will get power at a time.
what do you recommend ....as actual power output would be maybe 330 watts max.
maybe this ?? http://www.civicsolar.com/product/morningstar-ts-45

http://www.civicsolar.com/sites/default/files/documents/tristar20operation20manual-42834.pdf

My logic is I don't wanna have everything hanging on one MEGA system, this will be easier to maintain, trouble shoot & fix if needed.
I keep hearing stories where a guys batteries go bad & he gotta buy 800 AH batts - not cheap.

Postby OverTheTopCargoTrailer » Sat Jun 01, 2013 7:28 pm

Hey Bruce

Here is another crazy idea. Any thoughts ??

Pretend the cell phone was my 210 watt side wall panel 39" x 60" , I was planning to have the solar cells face outward , then remove the metal cover and get solar :D :D

but since I need one panel to fold out ( or at least down 6" - 12" ) which will be hideing my side wall a/c unit under the cover , I got this idea

It would be just the same to have maybe 2 panels face inward & when tilted down they would PU the sun,
maybe someone had this idea - then panels would almost provide some shade too "like pic 3 below"

ONE PROBLEM ALREADY - dealing with the wires if the panel facing in & tilts down ??

Pretend cell phone is solar panel picture below

Solar panel facing out - cover removed - picture above

solar panel facing trailer - with cover in place

Solar panel folded out - facing upward, PROBLEM how to
deal with solar panel wiring ?

Is this what you are thinking for making 2 panels face each other? I would think the wiring would not be hard at all, just leave enough slack at the hinge so it will not be stretched when fully folded in storage mode. BTW, the blue part would be the hinge between the two panels and the green bar would be the prop to hold the panels up at what ever angle you want them. If it's not obvious, the red bars would be the panels.
