Hi all, thanks for having me here.

This is the place where you can introduce yourself, and include a photo if so desired.

Hi all, thanks for having me here.

My name is Paul and I am just about to start building my TD camper. This site looks great. I have read quite a few stories and also read through the steps of making the Benroy generic TD. I am sure I will use alot of the information contained in the site.

The 2440mm x 1540 (10' x 5') trailer has been ordered from http://www.easytrailer.com.au here in Australia.

I have also ordered my Fantastic 8000R ceiling vent/fan from the states.

Ordered the locks for my 2 doors in white.

Just looking to order the drop down legs but I think I will wait until I get the trailer assembled to make sure I get the right size legs.

I plan on having lots of under-floor storage areas and carry a couple water tanks so I can have a shower tent next to the camper. I like camping but still like to have a nice hot shower each day.

My goal is to take lots of photo's and videos to keep everyone updated with my build.

I don't know how long it will take me to build but I am pretty good with timber and have most timberwork tools including router and table saw.

Look forward to discussing and sharing ideas.

Anyone else just about to start a new build?

Paul :picnic:

Hi Paul,

Welcome aboard. Same country but the other side. Esperance Westoz.
Our TD is around 18 months old now. Sold the Falcon, sold the van, we are a wee Getz /Teardrop combo now.
About to head off for a day or so this week. Teardrops are the way to go, so easy to use.
Plenty of good advice on the forum. There is a Yahoo Aussie Teardrop Forum but for obvious reasons it is not as active as this one.
Enjoy your build, we did.

RD

I love your TD RooDog do you have a journal of the steps of your build? Did you build your own doors?

Paul

Paul,

I haven't got a build journal but I do have a heap of pictures I can pass on to you. Some are under Roo Dog (use search.)
The doors are a laminated build, and we did make them ourselves.
The Tear is also clad with sign grade steel colourbond. No rust so far, and I live right on the coast where it cops the wind driven salt, it does have a guarantee of some 20 years I gather. Pre painted as well.
There are so many ways to go about it as demonstrated on this forum. We only came to this forum after we had built ours, wish we had been aware of it back aways. Ours was built in isolation with no plans and no input, our only inspiration was some pictures. So much useful stuff and helpful people on the forum. In hindsight there are a few things we would do differently with the knowledge we have gained from the wise folks here.

It's all good.

Take it easy.
