I would like to start out by saying hello to all, I hope you are doing well.. I'm still a newby to the site, and I'm enjoying it very much . Now, I have the chance to pick up a 6x12 I believe was the size, and it's an awesome base to start with, "minus the ramp" . My question is... will my TV be enough to handle it? I have a 93 s10 extended cab that I've done a V8 swap. Now, the power is plenty , I have no problem installing helper bags for the weight. Any thoughts on this will be great, I don't want to get into something too massive. Thanks in advance for any input.

Thanks BC, I'm gonna add a trans cooler, and maybe some air bag/shocks to help with the weight issue. Do you think I will need, trailer brakes? This will be the first trailer I've pulled with this truck, I've always had full size trucks. Again, thanks for the quick response.

I have seen the towing capacity of the '93 S10 quoted as 6000 lbs. That may be pretty accurate, as my '05 S10 Blazer is rated at 5700 lbs (2wd). You will need a frame mounted hitch (a bumper mounted ball will just pull your bumper off). I am using a load leveling hitch and air shocks to pull a 4K lb travel trailer.

I had a lot of trouble with sway until a friend helped me set the torsion bars properly. The air shocks seem to be a bit of overkill, as it doesn't take much air to bring the rear end up with the torsion bars properly adjusted.

Your limiting factor isn't the available power as much as it is the suspension condition and geometry. At any rate, the S10 should be capable of safely towing a 6x12 conversion, as long as you don't add "a ton of stuff" to it.

I used to have a '97 S10 with a Vortec V-6. My friend used to pull his B-19 TT with it all of the time. I must second, third and fourth the trailer brakes.

I think stopping will be your bigger issue. Light weight truck and very light rearend weight.

As Gus said, brakes. Going is optional stopping is not.

Pulling is no problem, Toyota proved that with their "Tow the Space Shuttle"
commercial... . You notice that it isn't going more than 0.25 mph. That's
so they can stop it with the Shuttle's brakes. I don't think the towing pickup will
be able to do anything other than flat spot it's tires trying to stop it.
Make sure your truck can stop the trailer, and get some brakes on the trailer as well...

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions . It seems that the main project will be installing brakes, . I've also got my sights on a 5x10 or 5x8 not sure, I have to stop and read the specs on the trailer. Just bugs me that it doesn't have the side access door . On another note, has anyone tried a v-front conversion? The 2 I'm looking into are both, flat fronts.

I'm sorry, maybe I worded that wrong. What I meant was, has anyone added a v-nose to the flat front ct? I am so glad y'all are patient, I tend to get ahead of myself.

I don't recall seeing anyone add a V to a square nose.

If you decide to try something like that, you may want to consider the problems of getting the modification to mate up with the original construction and still maintain the weathertight integrity of the original trailer. It is probably hard to do once you break open the factory structure. Doing an add-on as you would a tongue box might not be too difficult, but it would seem that the small amount of space you would gain could more easily be made available by using your truck bed, maybe with a cap?

Jandmz, you bring up a good issue. All that work for minimal gain . The main reason I was interested in the v-nose was for less wind restriction. The big flat front will be like pulling a wall down the road . Maybe I need to start thinking about a different build . I'm really digg'n the look of the, Mega Mini Teardrop. You could easily add a "nose Cone" From what I have read, even the v nose don't get that much better gas mileage. I don't have one myself, but they are interesting.
