Well that is good I never met Brain before so I hope he is as nice as I am. : ) Just kidding.

Well finally the warm weather has arrived and can actually put the coat away for the season. I moved the batteries off the front of my tongue on the trailer and moved them to the back of the trailer so that will help with the dry hitch weight otherwise the two batteries were adding extra weight and it will tow much easier now I hope. And the awning is corrected now so I will be able to use the awning at Crossroads.

Anyone from around Waukesha who wants to group together and do a CT and teardrop and anything else and make a long line on the road for the drive to Indiana let me know it is always fun to drive on the road with other fellow friends.

Yep. The black dots are water spigots to be shared.

But these are not intended to be hooked up to....simply a place to fill up from and go on. It really irritates me when people hook up and treat them like they are their own private supply.

I've been to places where water is available at all sites (Falls Lake, NC), and think that would be a nice touch to the Indiana system....and perhaps better ways of getting rid of grey water...until then, I've got 8 gallons to use and a blue tote to fill with...

McCormics creek is the oldest of the Indiana state parks with I think The Shades state park being #2. I am sure when it was first in operation water was not plumbed in. It was with conciderable effort most of these old parks were retrofitted to our more modern setup. Indiana was one of the first states to institute a state park program and they went into existance about the same year Yellowstione was made a national park. Ken Burns did a real neat TV documentry about the Indiana state park effort.

I agree to a point. I don't understand people with class a RVs with a hot tub and a laundry room.....maybe if you are full timing, but that's movie living....not camping. Generally trying to get away from that stuff.

We carry 8 gallons, that's enough for BASIC sanitation and cooking....3 days....tops. After that, I'm looking for a clean bucket . Longest trip so far is 7 days....loved every minute of the trip where it wasn't raining

I get slightly annoyed when at a park, the common water supply is plumbed. Someones trailer....almost enough to pull out my favorite cold steel recon (that is generally sharp enough to shave with) and perform a "sharpness test" on the hose....grrr...

yep - it caught us off guard last time - but fear not - bottled water and ice is town nearby

This subject, just like what the term "restored" means, or "do you think my butt is too big" are always going to generate lots and lots of pure opinion.
Some fact, some speculation, and some just off the cuff remarks.

Camping for some is sleeping under the stars, for others, a teardrop, and too, those with a luxury coach.

As with restored, there are many different "levels" of camping.
Some call it RV'ing, some call it touring, but whatever you call it, and with whatever box or bag you do it, the industry is meeting (or creating) a demand for this "home away from home".

While I love most state parks, it seems that they aren't keeping up with the times.
If the manufacturers and consumers are all going to units that "need" fresh water and sewer hookups, the parks that try to attract them should reconsider.
Some would say; it is too much, it isn't real camping, however, they already have electricity, they have tidy little asphalt parking spots for the RV, they have everything designed so you are looking up your neighbors b**t 5 feet away...

Those who live in areas of the country where they can truly "camp" have something special, the rest of us just get to enjoy our usual urban life with a few extra trees.
