You in trouble again Slow? Dude you really gotta stop that! The Vintage Camping Section of the forum always has been a drama free part of the forum. That's why I hang out here. Anyhoo, here is a pic of my latest buy.

I know, I know, I said NO MORE LANTERNS a couple of months ago, but in my defense my husband encouraged me to buy it. It's a non functioning 228J 5 77. I paid (if I remember right) $20 for the lantern and case. I am hoping I get a chance to look at it tomorrow if it's raining outside.

Latest rescue, a Coleman 413H powerhouse, was pretty beat up, had to do some magic with a rivet gun and bucking bars.



And a little "frankenlantern" that burns kerosene.

Here are a couple I got 2 weeks ago. I was at my normal flea market and for some reason I doubled back to the area I covered first and a guy was just pulling these out of his truck. I asked how much, and he said 5 a piece. I did not argue, I just handed him the money and ran away.

Nice scores, all of you. Found a 7/65 220 the other day with the box and all the paperwork in good condition. Looked like it had only been fired once or twice. I won't pay $40 for it though. There was a 425 on the shelf next to it that I didn't even look at for $20.

Yup, 5 bucks. The deals are out there, and I spend more time then I probably should hunting up stuff. It's sort of a game to see what you can dig up. I don't golf, gamble, or smoke, so this is where my extra money goes.

I picked these up. and have few questions for you all. The lantern on the left is an AGM, but has a rising sun Coleman globe. The right is a Coleman 220C. Both have identical vents. Why, anyone know?



The Coleman also seems to be a Government model of some kind but it does not look Military. No parts in the tank and the globe is one piece. Here is the bottom of the Coleman. The date is 4 - 7 and has US on it.

I think most, if not all of the 22#C's were marked with "US". My 228C is also marked "US" Probably they got stuck with many founts after WWII or the machinery was to difficult to just remove the "US". I think the 220BX I had was also marked "US". I do not know why the vents are the same. Other than I have heard that when AGM had some worker strikes Coleman made stuff for them.

Ya I got my 200A 5/64 in the mail, and it is a beauty. But unfortunately, It looks like My camera or battery also got damage in the last round of lighting. So all I got is the E-bay pictures. I did pay a little bit for it but I wanted a B-Day lantern 200a. This is not that refurbed one someone just sold for 69$ on E-bay,( with a new label on it ), this is an Original. Needs a mantle and I’m gonna fire this baby up.





A few min later Ups shows up at my door with a the junky “ Dark Red 200A 1964 “ lantern from E-bay as well ($12.00). Was going to sandblast it and paint it up Orange with a Pumpkin etched Globe for Halloween. But to my surprise, what looked like a 10 64 turns out to be a 10 61 with a few scratching making the faintly stamped 61 look like a 64. The Vent is right for a 61, and the engraved logo on the back of the tank is right for a 61. The 64 engraved ( stamped ) logo should be on the bottom for 1964 ones. So Boom! A $12 Burgundy Coleman. The filler cap was so tight had to wrench it off and the gasket is shot, but putting my thumb over the hole while pumping it shows it holds pressure and the other valves work.

Your B-day 200A is in better shape than mine was. Nice score on the burgundy. I thought I was done collecting Coleman stuff, but a 288 caught my eye at a garage sale. It needs a lot of clean up. I like the fact that it can be dimmed. I have something special planned for it. Stay tuned.

Man only camera I have still working is my XTC Helmet cam I place on my RC planes and fly in to the ground. ( sorry crappy picture ) But here it is. My B-Day Lantern light up. And surprise surprise surprise, what do you know but a long lost twin sister came to live with her as well. Another 5 / 64, not as clean as the first one but lights and burns better. ( on the right ) I got a lead on a third 5/64 but the guy still not sure if he wants to sell of not.




Still need a fuel cap seal and globe for the Burgundy and I gonna fire her up as well.

Now I need to think about a Lantern Hook idea for the side of my camper. May be a swing out hook, but need to keep the lantern far away from the wood so it will not overheat.
